Jennifer Judkins, U.S. Brand President for Longines awarded Zayat Stables LLC co-owner, trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Victor Espinoza with elegant timepieces after American Pharoah cemented itself as a potential Triple Crown winner. American Pharoah, ridden by jockey, Victor Espinoza, raced to victory in 1 minute and 58 seconds.

New this year was the launch of Preakness App presented by the organizers of the Preakness Stakes. The app supported a public contest in which users aimed to guess the exact timing of the winning horse, American Pharoah. A Conquest Timepiece was sent to the winner.

Longines had a prominent presence throughout Pimlico on Preakness day serving as the Official Timekeeper and Watch with a large chronograph at the finish line and hosting the Longines Most Elegant Woman at Preakness Fashion Contest. The Longines Most Elegant Woman at Preakness Fashion Contest celebrated the sophisticated style of The Preakness Stakes. With the help of a panel of judges, Longines chose the most elegant woman and presented her a Longines Conquest Classic Timepiece with diamonds. Conquest Classic watches were also granted to the winning horses’ owner, trainer and jockey of the Dixie Stakes presented by Longines.

To highlight its partnership, the watchmaker had a digital “Longines Preakness Stakes Countdown Clock” on the official Preakness Stakes website, www.preakness.com, and served as the presenting partner of the International Pavilion, the leading hospitality destination. Located at the finish line, the International Pavilion brings the world to the Preakness by choosing a different country each year to serve as the host nation with its respective embassy and Ambassador serving as Honorary Host. The embassy of Canada served as the 2015 host nation.  For more information and photography from the 140th Preakness Stakes visit: http://inr.synapticdigital.com/swatch_group/preakness_2015.

About the Watches

This collection of models, all fitted with self-winding calibers, is both contemporary and perfectly timeless, representing the brands’ rich tradition and watch-making expertise.

Conquest Classic is available in three sizes. The ladies’ models have a diameter of 29.50 mm with a black, mother-of-pearl or silvered dial and are available in steel, rose gold or a combination of steel and rose gold. A second model with hours, minutes and date is available with a diameter of 40.00 mm, fitted on black alligator straps or steel or steel and rose gold bracelets, each to match the dial. At 41 mm, the chronographs are fitted with an L688 column-wheel movement exclusively developed for Longines. Stevenson University hosted Fourth Annual Student Fashion Show: A Common Thread

Stevenson University hosted their Fourth Annual Student Fashion Show on Saturday, May 9, 2015.  The theme of this year’s show was A Common Thread.

IMG_3167 IMG_3166

There were five scenes for the fashion show: Garment Construction Studio Class: Children’s Wear and Casual Looks, Flat Pattern II Class: Tailored Styles, Draping II Class: We are One In Fashion, and Senior Studio I and II Classes: Senior Collections.  Designers for the Senior Collection exhibited their year long project.

I am excited to share that my Sorority Mentee Jocelyn Williams assisted with the production of the fashion show.  Jocelyn is a senior student that has been accepted into The Savannah College of Art and Design; with an internship at Lee Anderson Apparel Company and Under Armour.  Jocelyn also designed her own collection titled: Bitsy Botanicals.

Additional supporters for the event where Baltimore Magazine, Baltimore Fashion Alliance, Gerber Technology, Mode Couture, Nordstrom, Under Armour, PLITZ Fashion Marketing, and The Baltimore Sun.  Overall, I enjoyed watching the show and seeing the eye-catching creativity and workmanship of the students!

Met Gala 2015 Glamorous Recap and Photos

Fashion lovers everywhere witnessed the glamour, creativity, and art of The Met Gala 2015 or formally known as the Costume Institute Gala.  Celebrities showed up wearing intricate designs and show stopping hats while music artists were seen wearing sheer gowns.

This year’s theme was China: Through The Looking Glass which was based upon a document.  The annual fundraising event attracted entertainers and fashion industry professionals; purchasing a ticket to support the Metropolitian Museum of Art Costume Institute.  Although this night was amazing in it’s own right, there’s always a memorable moment!

My favorite costume of the night goes to the lovely and talented Beyonce.  Her dress was show stopping, appropriate according to the theme (loving her high ponytail) and it was detailed couture.  My least favorite selection came from Gabrielle Union.  Unfortunately, her dress did not exemplify the theme of the event and appeared to be a winter gown.  I love Gabby (and hubby) but I’m hoping they will do better next year.  She has a fabulous body and would like to have a designer create a gown for her figure.

Honorable mention goes to Blake Lively, Solange Knowles, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian West, and Jennifer Lopez.  The ladies listed did it just right and added a special touch of whimsy to the evening!

Expressive Sweatshirts: Easy Style Option

Fashion is a form of expression. It’s a way of communicating your interests, thoughts, and personal style. Why not express yourself with a sweatshirt?  They’re easy to put on and coordinate with anything in your closet.

For comfy or relaxed style, wear your sweatshirt with a pair of jeans and flats.  If you want to take your “look” up a notch, add a statement necklace, pumps, and clutch bag.  Have fun with the look!
