Baltimore’s Harbor East Hosts 4th Annual FashionEasta Show

BALTIMORE, MD (February 18, 2015) – Harbor East invites you to preview the next wave of chic at the Fourth Annual FashionEASTa: The Fashion Show! On Saturday, April 25 Baltimore’s hottest shopping destination takes center stage and highlights the fashions of some of its most notable retailers. Guests are welcome to shop in-store specials and style events, groove to live entertainment, and savor cocktails and light fare from Harbor East restaurants street-side. The festivities culminate with a showcase of the best of spring fashion as the hottest looks hit the runway for the FashionEasta Fashion Show!

Over the last several years Harbor East has emerged as Baltimore’s go-to shopping destination, attracting renowned national brands as well as the best of local boutiques and businesses. Since 2014 the neighborhood has welcomed such notable retailers as Madewell and Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, and will soon be announcing the opening of its newest retailer!

The fashionable fete kicks off at 1PM on Saturday, April 25 on Aliceanna Street (between South Exeter and South President Streets). The FashionEASTa Fashion Show begins at 3:30PM hosted by Baltimore magazine Style Editor Hilary Geisbert, bringing audiences a high-energy runway production highlighting spring fashions and local celebrity models. The best part? All the show’s styles come straight from Harbor East shops, so if you love what you see you can purchase the looks “haute” off the runway.

Participating retailers include: Amaryllis Handcrafted Jewelry, City Sports, Handbags in the City, J.Crew, lululemon athletica, Madewell, Sassanova, South Moon Under, Under Armour Brand House, White House/Black Market and more to be announced!

FashionEASTa: The Fashion Show is FREE and open to all. Serious fashionEASTas will want to reserve their spot on the “Guest List” for an even more fabulous experience. Guest List tickets are $35 and include: reserved seating for the FashionEASTa Fashion Show (standing room only otherwise), discounted food & drink vouchers good for street-side offerings from 1-6PM, an exclusive FashionEASTa shopping tote, and garage parking in Harbor East. Tickets must be purchased in advance. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Dress for Success Baltimore.

Calling all aspiring models, fashionEASTas, and connoisseurs of style to our Open Model Call for this year’s FashionEASTa Fashion Show! On Tuesday, March 31^st and Thursday, April 2 from 5-7:30PM, Harbor East in partnership with STEPHANIE BRADSHAW hosts an open casting call for models for the FashionEASTa runway production. Jason Wu Spring 2014 RTW: Easy Glamour

Jason Wu stunned audiences during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with his glitzy shimmering designs.

He provided show attendees with a style call, “easy glamour” where trendsetters can feel beautiful and chic in comfortable garments. From slip dresses to corsets, this collection provided a variety of looks that can transform from day to night.

According to Vogue Magazine, Wu stated “I wanted the body to speak for itself. Let the fabric do the magic.” And he achieved just that!

VMA’s 2013 Fashionable Moments: The Editor’s Likes and Issues…Let’s Talk About It!

The Video Music Awards is one of the most fashionable moments where a music artist can shine.

Celebrities can push the limits while introducing a new trend or bring back a touch of “rock and roll” glamour.

And then there’s the select few that leave us confused and wondering what happened to their look. Needless to say, no matter how it’s addressed, fashion’s a huge component of the VMA’s and it’s always fun to recap the selections that we saw (on our television screens.)

Ciara

My Like: The dress is very couture and her body looks great! The bead work mixed with orstrich feathers looks amazing. My Issue: This is very similiar to a look we have seen at another event.

Miley Cyrus

My Like: The beading stitched on the top and leggings looks gorgeous. My Issue: I am not sure what’s going on with her hairstyle (looks very pre – k) and maybe a pair of stilletos would’ve pulled this look together.

Taylor Swift

My Like: Taylor looks very grown up and elegant. My Issue: This entire look would be great for the Oscars. She could’ve pushed the limits a bit more.

Ellie Goulding

My Like: She did it just right! The spikes on her dress add a touch of rock and roll also her nude pumps are the exact shade of her dress which elongates her torso. My Issue: I don’t have any issues with this look!

Rita Ora

My Like: The tail on this dress is very eye catching with orstrich feathers and a beautiful shade of blue. The bodice also stands out because it’s completely beaded with a plunging neckline. My Issue: This hairstyle has been seen on another artist (smile.)

Selena Gomez

My Like: She did it just right! Her hair style and dress fit looks perfect. And I like the trend of wearing a hint of lingerie. My Issue: I don’t have any issues with this look!

Joan Smalls

My Like: The chanel boots look great with her legs and skirt length. My Issue: This look is a bit premature for the celebrity.

Lady Gaga

My Like: This is a very cohesive look. She gave us the exact amount of “goth” with a hint of feminity with an oversized bow and heart shape neckline. My Issue: I don’t have any issues with this look!

Jennifer Hudson

My Like: The houndstooth print (which I think is also leather) coordinates well with her skirt and pumps. My Issue: I don’t have any issues with this look!

Fall 2013 Fashion Designer Trends and Collections Part II

Below are photos that provide inspiration for Fall 2013, when we consider building our wardrobe. Based upon my previous post, “Fall 2013 Beauty Trends and Accessories” I like to stay abreast of what’s current and new as it relates to fashion, beauty, and style.

My motivation behind this post series (or more so incorporating a trends element to this blog) steams from my family and friends asking what’s popular for the upcoming season. The people in my life acknowledge that this is my passion and therefore come to me for wardrobe advice.

Therefore, this particular write – up centers around designer trends (for the fall) that have graced the runway last Spring. I decided to compile a few looks and hopefully they will help “spruce” up a few items you already own. And don’t forget, it’s always great to find inspiration but learn to make every look your own!

Fall 2013 Beauty and Accessories Trends: Part I

From a blogger’s perspective, I always like to know what’s “hot” for the next upcoming season. And honestly, I do not consider myself to be “trendy” but I do believe in the concept of “refreshing” your wardrobe.

Life is too short to wear boring clothes (via my Instagram post) and dressing is a form of personal expression. It’s how you present yourself to the world and most importantly, it shows everyone how you feel about yourself.

My philosophy is that anyone can refresh their wardrobe without having to spend their life savings. A simple bracelet or new shade of lipstick can do wonders for your wardrobe, mood, or even your professional life.

I have to give credit to one of my favorite magazines, Instyle (I’ve been reading since I was a teenager) for telling us the new, runway inspired looks.

In conclusion, it’s fun and easy to select a trend but don’t forget that true style is making a look your own!
