Style + Life + Fashion had the opportunity to interview Debi Lilly, Entertainment and Design Expert.  Debi shared with us wedding advice, trends, budget conscious tips, and her new collection at Safeway.

· What’s the most important aspect when planning a wedding?

o Weddings reflect the personal style of each couple, with welcoming, thoughtful, elegant designs and details that celebrate the couple, their family and friends.
· Can you share the latest wedding trend?

o This year it’s all about a colorful, interactive dessert themed Cake Bar to get guests up out of their seats celebrating once dinner ends. Brides can create an elegant but affordable dessert bar using debi lilly design cake stands, pops of color with ribbon accents, candy and cookie collections, and more. It’s gorgeous, DIY edible décor, that doubles as your wedding favor, helping to stretch that bridal budget.

Stylish Wedding with Fashionable Themes

Any woman who sees herself as being at the height of style and sophistication is sure to want her wedding day to be just as stylish as the rest of her life. In fact, it should be even more fashionable because it’s one of the biggest days of her life. But when you have so much to plan, the finer details can get lost when you’re busy organizing the big things. If you want your wedding to go off without a hitch and for everything to look fabulous while it happens, you should pick a theme and run with it. Of course, the big day is all about commitment, but that doesn’t mean that one of these ultra-stylish theme ideas wouldn’t be the icing on the cake.

1950s Hollywood

If you want real style and sophistication, you only need to look at the past. We have plenty of incredible fashion now, of course, but there’s something captivating about a vintage look. There are lots of different routes you can take if you want to have a vintage wedding, but the glamor of a 1950s Hollywood is irresistible. For the dress, take inspiration from classic movies, as well as the gowns worn by actresses at the Oscars and their own weddings. Go for a black tie affair, with gloves and evening gowns for the ladies.

Pick a Pattern

Sometimes there are so many ideas, you just don’t know what to choose. Or you have the opposite problem, and you’re completely stuck for inspiration. One of the easiest ways to pick a theme is to choose a pattern or motif that you like. It could be stripes or polka dots, a flower motif or a fleur-de-lis. Don’t go overboard with applying your choice to every single thing you come across, or it will turn into a stripy nightmare. Use it as a starting point to access your designs, from the invitations to the cake.

Monograms and Lettering

Anyone who’s a sucker for a beautiful typeface will love using stylish lettering as the basis for their wedding theme. You can use lovely scripts on the save the date cards, invitations, name cards and more. And you can also use your initials to monogram different aspects of the party, from a handkerchief in the groom’s breast pocket to the cake. It’s an excellent way to add small and subtle details to every part of your wedding and put a little bit of you and your partner into the designs. You can even get your monogram nicely crafted on a custom neon wedding sign, just upload a picture of the logo and pick a color to match your décor. These new LED neon lights glow gently and bright, and will look great on your wedding pictures.

Flowers

Flowers are one of those things that can be sophisticated if you get it right, but horribly tacky if you get it wrong. Too many flowers could tip your theme over the edge into dangerous territory, so be careful with this one. But if you’re a flower lover, you can have success by carefully choosing what to use and where to use it.

WeddingFlowers

You can put together the stylish wedding of your dreams if you pick the right theme. Decide on one in the beginning, and you can keep it in mind as you plan everything for the big day.

Rock and Metal Vibes

For couples who march to the beat of a different drum, a wedding theme inspired by rock and metal can bring a unique and edgy elegance to your special day. Think leather accents, dark florals, and bold metallic details. Incorporate the rebellious spirit of rock into your attire, and let your wedding playlist reflect your love for the genre. Gabrielle Union – Regal Photos of The Bride

Truthfully, I’ve waited for the release of #thewadeunion photos because I knew that Gabrielle Union would be a beautiful bride.

She’s giving us regal glamour in the picture above with beach wave hair, diamond earrings, and a heart shape gown. And looks severely “hot” in the jumpsuit below!

Brides Should Purchase Multiple Wedding Dresses: Contributing Post from Simply Bridal.com

Wearing multiple wedding dresses has become one of the biggest trends in the wedding industry. The trend has so permeated the industry that it is on the fast track to becoming standard bridal fare instead of a celebrity bridal trend. Yet, before you plunk down some serious change for two dress deposits, you should consider what comes with the territory when you decide to wear multiple dresses on your wedding day.
You Get to Dance the Night Away
Is your heart set on wearing a big, ball gown with a 27-foot train, even though it requires you to walk like a tin man? Well, have no fear because you can have your dress and wear another one too. Today’s brides have been wearing their big, beautiful gowns for the ceremony and then ditching them in favor of an easy, but still bridal, dress that allows them to move, shimmy and shake all night long.
You Become a Quick Change Artist
Your guests will be stunned when you walk into the reception in one dress, go into another room and then reappear with a completely different look. If you want to go the entire quick change route, enlist your hairstylist to create a completely different look. Now, that is really something you don’t see every day.
You Will Have a Bigger Headache than Most Brides
Finding your dream dress is stressful in itself, but trying to find two (or possibly three or more) dresses can give you cause to self-destruct. Just think, you have all of the dress one dress requires and then get to multiply it by how many dresses you want to wear. If you’re prone to stress, then this trend may not be right for you.
…and Unfortunately Your Wallet Becomes Smaller
All you need to do is walk into a bridal boutique to remind yourself just how much getting married costs. Dresses can be quite expensive, but if your wallet can handle it, go for it.
The trend of wearing multiple dresses is quite fun, but it also a little time-consuming and more stressful than usual. Although we love seeing brides’ reception dresses, we understand the pleasure and pain that brides must endure if they want to indulge in the trend. So, how many dresses will you be wearing?

Four Seasons Baltimore Introduces New China Specialist Program

A wedding is a reflection of a couples’ personalities and their vision of a future life together, and Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore has all of the elements – dream location, incredible cuisine, inspiring décor, and impeccably trained staff – to create personalized, special celebrations. The Hotel is now enhancing its services to go beyond that one special day to help couples look forward to a lifetime of unforgettable entertaining together with the new China Specialist Program.

The Hotel’s Director of Stewarding John Flynn is available to offer expert advice to newly engaged twosomes on how to curate a selection of beautiful china, glass, and silver patterns that are certain to take centre stage as they welcome friends and family into their home. Couples can escape the hectic conventional registering experience and enjoy a private consultation in the comfort of a luxurious hotel setting, with a glass of bubbly or zero proof cocktail. In meeting with guests, Flynn will guide them through a series of questions designed to aid them in determining the type of dinner and stemware, including silver and stainless that would be the best investment based on their lifestyle and how they like to entertain. Whether it’s ornate and vibrant or simple and understated, Flynn’s priority is helping busy couples find a pattern for life – with the peace of mind that Four Seasons provides by taking care of every detail.

Flynn’s highlights include: Registry 101, mixing and matching, modern vs. classic and special place settings. Additionally, he will share his top tips on how to best care for and maintain different types of tableware, along with things to consider when registering, such as taking an audit as a couple of existing essential pieces before registering, choosing a broad range of items to accommodate different budgets of guests attending the wedding, and over-registering for more than is needed.

“We firmly believe that true hospitality extends beyond the confines of our Hotel and planning for one special day. We create special experiences for our couples throughout the Hotel and beyond that make for a truly memorable start for their new life together,” Flynn says. “We want to build a deeper relationship with guests getting married at our Hotel and offer them a more comprehensive experience of Four Seasons lifestyle as we help them to build their new life together.”

With more than 10 years in the hospitality business, Flynn has been responsible for the proper cleaning, storage and distribution of china, silver, glassware, pots, pans and other cookware. His extensive catering training has also taught him the importance of plateware as a frame for the presentation of food.

The complimentary consultations are approximately one hour long, by-appointment-only, and available exclusively for couples getting married at the Hotel.

View a sample of Flynn’s selections from the celebrated Rosenthal catalogue in a recent post on Four Seasons Weddings online magazine.

Weddings: What Should I Wear?

With so many weddings approaching, women everywhere are asking themselves, “what should I wear to this wedding?”  And this is a common question because you want to look elegant without appearing as if you’re apart of the bridal party.  Clearly, there is a fine line between wearing a cocktail dress and a sequin gown.

But most importantly, you also want to follow those “timeless” guidelines such as not wearing white (obviously the conservative bride will wear white) and don’t wear black (if it’s not a request from the bride and groom.)

Lastly, one must also take into consideration the time of the day when searching for attire.  Short dresses can be worn for informal/semi formal daytime weddings.  But if the wedding is in the evening, generally it’s considered formal, as well as black tie or even white tie, long dress can be worn with extra glamorous accessories.

Either way, finding something to wear to a wedding can be lots of fun and a great excuse to dress up!
