Hosea Helps Easter Blessings Celebration

Hosea Helps, Inc., in its 52nd year of service, continues its annual community giveaway with the Hosea Helps Easter Blessings Drive-Through event. This event will be the third of its kind for the organization in celebration of the Easter holiday. Giveaway blessings include: free food, free MARTA cards, fresh produce, fresh turkeys, Easter baskets, PPE supplies, and communion. Parents are allowed to drive-through to receive Easter baskets for their children. The Easter Blessings Drive-Through event will take place on Sunday, April 17, 2022, from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Hosea Helps location (2545 Forrest Hills Drive, Atlanta, Ga 30315). We want to empower families for the Easter holiday. Come see us before or after your Easter celebrations to grab your supplies, while supplies last.

We will host an extraordinary group of volunteers to lead the charge in distributing supplies during the drive through event. In addition, volunteers will be working both sides of the giving spectrum by distributing food donations from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and helping to distribute Easter baskets to families. Registration to volunteer is currently open, please visit: Volunteers – Hosea Helps (4hosea.org).

Inflation and gas, food and oil prices hitting 40 year highs, make support of Hoseas’ huge festivals of services more important than ever. One more important thing and perhaps one we all need to focus on is the rise in violent crime and suicides. We have seen people decide not to hurt themselves because they were touched, served, and loved at one of Hoseas’ Holiday Festival of Services. Perhaps more than any other, this is the reason to give, to volunteer and to support in any way possible. Financial donations are needed as well as gift cards for teenagers in need. Please give on our website “4hosea.org” or in our Cash App “$hoseahelps”. We need sponsors and volunteers.”, says Elizabeth Omilami, CEO of Hosea Helps.

This year’s sponsors include: Butler Street CME Church, CVS/Aetna, and Fulton County.

Egg-cellent Easter Decor Tips from TheSoul Publishing

The Easter Bunny is on his way! Easter is just over a week away (Sunday, April 4), but it’s not too late to decorate for the holiday or craft a special Easter basket for young ones.

TheSoul Publishing – the company behind some of YouTube’s most-watched channels – has put together several fun and easy tips to decorate for Easter this year.

  • Hand towel bunnies! Simply twist a brightly-colored hand towel into one long piece, and secure the bottom third with a rubber band. Add googly eyes, a puff ball nose, and wrap a ribbon around the rubber band to create a simple and adorable bunny – perfect for mantle decoration! (Full instructions here)
  • Naturally dyed Easter eggs: If you’re looking to avoid harsh chemicals for your Easter egg dye, or just don’t have time to buy prepackaged kits at the store, you can use household items to achieve the same result. Try turmeric, beets, purple cabbage, and more! (Full instructions here)
  • Adorable seasonal place settings: Are you hosting Easter brunch this year? Make a holiday-appropriate place setting with a bunny napkin, complete with an Easter egg face! (Full instructions here)
  • Egg-celent Herb Garden: Get your chives, parsley, and cilantro ready for Easter by planting them in egg shells to keep the soil fertile and add a nice holiday touch to your kitchen window. (Full instructions here)

Easter Celebration – Simple Lifestyle Tips

Easter can be an exciting holiday for everyone.  It’s the ultimate symbol of the Spring season and a time of rebirth.  Although celebrating Easter can be a lot of fun, preparation for this joyous holiday can also be overwhelming!

As a new mom (many years ago) I wanted to attack the holiday from all angles.  My eagerness stemmed from the excitement of having my very own children.  Over the years, I’ve learned to focus on what really matters.   The small details will come together once you concentrate on the priority of the day.

Easter Celebration Tips:

  1. Create your dinner menu – Decide whether your family will dine in or out.  Either option provides a good opportunity for quality fellowship.  Traditional Easter meals (if you’re cooking) include a honey glazed ham, roasted leg of lamb, baked salmon, green bean casserole, rice pilaf, scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese, or home-style dinner rolls.
  2. Coordinate Easter crafts with the kids – This particular tip can vary depending on your interest but the idea is to teach your family the meaning of Easter.  Quick holiday crafts include decorating eggs, planting a Spring garden, or designing Easter bookmarks.
  3. Consider taking Easter photos – Start thinking of the right location, lighting, and even the weather.  Also, we can’t forget to coordinate the perfect attire whether a traditional suit or casual spring outfit.
  4. Decorate, Decorate, Decorate – Nothing brings more excitement than putting out spring decorations.  Add a wreath to the front door, create a tablescape, or flower arrangement in the hallway.

Some of my favorite Easter traditions include Sunday morning worship, egg hunt, brunch, and spring photos.  What are some of your favorite Easter traditions, share them with us here?

Arundel Mills – Easter Celebration

Simon®, a global leader in retail real estate, is hosting its annual Easter celebration festivities at Arundel Mills, offering families the chance to participate in traditional and unique seasonal events.

The Bunny Photo Experience begins March 4th and runs through March 26th in the food court. Kids will have the chance to visit with the Bunny and take home a treasured snapshot of the fun occasion.

The presenting sponsor for the 2016 Bunny Photo Experience is The Gymboree Corporation – including its Gymboree and Crazy 8 clothing brands.

“We love to hold family-friendly events and we always look forward to watching children interact with the Bunny at Easter,” said Rocell Viniard, Area Director of Marketing and Business Development at Arundel Mills.

Arundel Mill’s Caring Bunny™ event will offer families that have children with special needs a subdued environment to participate in the Bunny Photo Experience. Caring Bunny has been developed by Simon and is guided by AbilityPath.org, a national online resource hub and special needs community. Over 90 Simon® properties will host the Caring Bunny this season. Promotional assistance for Caring Bunny has been provided by Autism Speaks.

On March 13th from 9 am to 10:30 am, many steps will be taken to reduce sensory triggers, creating a more comforting environment for children’s cherished visit with the Bunny. The subdued environment is likely to include (specific elements or aesthetics may vary):

• Turning off in-mall music, stopping escalators located near the photo set, dimming the lights and shutting down fountains for the duration of the event.
• Eliminating queue lines through the use of a numbering system whereby guests approach the set when their number is called.
• Special activities geared toward the needs of the child during the ‘wait’ period to help the child understand what activities will occur during the visit.

Arundel Mills will also be offering a chance to have Breakfast with the Bunny on March 12th from 8 am to 9:30 am at Nando’s Peri Peri. The event is free, but seating is limited, so please RSVP beforehand at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/kidgits-kids-club-breakfast-with-the-bunny-tickets-21823882821?aff=es2.

Easter Decorating and Traditions

Easter is one of my favorite holidays because it symbolizes rebirth.  It’s the the one day that officially launches Spring and gives us hope that flowers are blooming soon.  Tradition also suggests that we dress up in bright colors to lighten everyone’s spirits.

Aside from wearing the perfect Easter attire, one should also remember to decorate our homes.  I do this for my boys because it’s fun to hear them talk about “the easter bunny” and I enjoy adding a sense of whimsy to my space.

My family and I will attend church, brunch, and take family photos.  Of course the day before we attend the annual Easter Egg Hunt and laugh about all of the eggs we collected.  Although we’re busy setting our own traditions, it doesn’t take away from decorating my home to create lasting memories.
