Prabal Gurung GTL from Hot Tools + Wella

INSPIRATION:

The evolution of the Prabal woman continues this season, evoking a strong and confident femininity that is juxtaposed by clean lines.

LOOK:

A modern take on the classic ponytail with textured tousled hair in the back that is complimented by a boyish look in front with clean combed over hair to create a play on the sexes.

GET THE LOOK:

·         Prep the hair with WELLA EIMI Sugar Lift Sugar Spray layering it densely all over, and dry using the Hot Tools Tourmaline Turbo Ionic Dryer.

·         Once it’s all dried in use the Hot Tools Soft Grip Paddle Cushion Brush to smooth it out and create a very deep side part on the left.

·         Rub the WELLA EIMI Rugged Texture Matte Texturizing Paste into the crown to give it that sleek look.

·         Push the front, right section of the hair towards the face, creating a small bump in the front. Break up the hair with fingers for that “lived-in” texture.

·         Pull the hair back into a tight ponytail in the dead center of the back of the head.

·         Wrap strands around the Hot Tools 1” CURLBAR (available later this month) in different directions, making it look very natural. Rub in the WELLA EIMI Sugar Lift Sugar Spray into the ponytail and break it up.

·         Spray the WELLA EIMI Stay Firm Workable Finishing Hairspray all over to complete the sleek look. Let it sit. To finish, blow dry to keep ensure it holds.

America’s Next Top Model Season 23 Episode 11 Recap

“Celebrity Life” was the title of last night’s episode of America’s Next Top Model Season 23.  The contestants experienced Rita Ora’s life as a singer and actress.

Once the models arrived in New York, they were greeted by paparazzi and quickly learned that you have to be ready at any moment.  Rita critiqued the paparazzi photos; selecting the contestant that showed personality through their “Street Style” picture. Courtney was the winner of the challenge and received a vip adventure to Orlando Resort.

The second model challenge included shooting a cover photo for  Paper Magazine.  Drew Elliott gave the suggestion that, “When you’re on the cover of a magazine, you are shooting you!”  He also stated (during the challenge) that models must make eye contact with the camera.

Several of the pictures for the Paper Magazine challenge where amazing!  Tash was eliminated from the competition while Courtney proceeded to become America’s Next Top Model.

Next week, the contestants will learn acting skills.  Watch the full episode here:  Celebrity Life

BADGLEY MISCHKA PRESENTS FALL 2017 COLLECTION AT NYFW

Badgley Mischka, one of the world’s leading special occasion fashion designers, is pleased to announce the launch of their first-ever Badgley Mischka Home collection. The duo launched the collection on February 14th at their Fall/Winter 2017 fashion show during NYFW. Following the success of the brands’ “see now, buy now” collection platform last year, the Badgley Mischka Home collection will be available on BadgleyMischka.com immediately after the February 14th show.

Every piece from the Badgley Mischka Home collection embodies the intricate detailing that epitomized the Badgley Mischka ready-to-wear pieces. The collection is inspired by Mark and James’ passion for building homes and creating enduring designs for cherished life moments.

The Badgley Mischka Home collection features an array of dining, living, and bedroom collections in addition to accent furniture, case goods, upholstered items, decorative accessories, and candles, ranging from $100 to $10,000. Inspired by Mark and James’ passion for building homes and creating enduring designs for cherished life moments, each piece in the collection embodies the intricate detailing and old Hollywood glamour for which Badgley Mischka is known.

“We are thrilled to see this collection come to life,” Mark Badgley said. “It has been a wonderful labor of love to combine our passions for interior design and fashion design. Each piece we’ve created for Badgley Mischka Home really is an extension of our aesthetic and what we love – both on the runway and in our own home,” he continued. “To be able to design pieces that we hope will create amazing environments and moments at home for our customers is a thrill and something we’ve always wanted to do,” added James Mischka.

The Badgley Mischka Home collection is produced in partnership with Los Angeles-based PTM Images to hospitality-grade specifications using the finest materials available.  Linens and woven fabrics are primarily sourced in the US and additional raw materials are found abroad.  As part of the brand’s commitment to sustainable design and production, the design house has tasked suppliers to plant over 40 trees for every one cut for production use. Additionally, their production facility recycles all waste materials using a “closed loop” recycling process in which post-consumer waste is collected, recycled and used in the manufacturing of the collection.

Red Prom Dress Trends Inspired By The Grammys

Prom is perhaps the most important night in a teenager’s life, especially for girls who usually start preparing for this special occasion months ahead. A great prom night will make high school even more memorable and finding red prom dresses from top designers will make or break if the night is successful or not.

All details should be planned to perfection beforehand and no prom night could be regarded as being perfect without an amazing dress which suits the occasion. Girls these days look like models and their parents are willing to spend whatever amount of money to make sure that their daughters look like princesses.

Prom dresses can prove to be a tough find as they are being ordered months before the event takes place from famous designers from around the world and not only will a great dress confer a feeling of luxury and exquisiteness but a girl who wears a gorgeous dress will surely be the talk of the town for weeks on end.

Those who are not lucky enough to have bought a designer dress, the internet comes up for help as there are a wide array of online stores to choose from when selecting the perfect dress for the perfect occasion. Options are extremely numerous and a quick online search is over within minutes. Deciding upon what dress to buy is entirely different as colors and styles vary from website to website and not only are girls needed to go through all the hassles of picking the right one but they do not have the warranty of matching their size perfectly.

2017 Grammys Red Carpet Trends

It is strongly advised that girls who want to order a dress from the web should do it weeks before the grand event to make sure it fits perfectly. A tailor can do some modifications in a short amount of time to make sure that every girl feels as confident as ever when she wears her favorite dress.

Another option is to opt for a tailor’s help as they will make everything from color and style highly customizable and he will also take into account one’s preferences regarding fashion. Not only does he create the dress but can also give girls some fashion-related advice and how a dress should look like in accordance to one’s body type as well as the colors which fit to a certain design.

Make sure that one does not lose sight of last-minute preparations such as make-up and hairstyle so book your stylist beforehand to make sure that everything goes according to plan on this big night of everyone’s lives.

NYFW RECAP: Katie Gallagher FW17 “Hallow”

Even now this landscape is assembling.

The hills darken. The oxen

sleep in their blue yoke,

the fields having been

picked clean, the sheaves

bound evenly and piled at the roadside

among cinquefoil, as the toothed moon rises:

This is the barrenness

of harvest or pestilence.

And the wife leaning out the window

with her hand extended, as in payment,

and the seeds

distinct, gold, callin

Come here

Come here, little one

And the soul creeps out of the tree.

Louise Glück, “All Hallows,” 1968

Set in New England during autumn, Katie Gallagher’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection, Hallow, finds inspiration in men’s military apparel, specifically the MA-1 bomber jacket. Developed in the 1940s, the bomber jacket provided warmth and safety to pilots during air combat in WWII.

In the decades following, the garment became one of the most identifiable pieces of military apparel, finding its way into popular culture by the end of the 20th century. Gallagher has featured iterations of the bomber jacket in many of her past collections, using tulle, lace, and other unlikely materials to create the traditionally heavy, masculine garment.

Like early bomber jackets that were lined in orange, Gallagher’s color palette will feature black and orange hues, which also recall the colors of autumn and death most commonly associated with All Hallow’s Eve.

Hallow relies heavily on textures and subtle details, featuring point d’esprit and tulle that form non-traditional, dainty, and triangular silhouettes. Materials include airy swiss dot paired with heavy opaque wool, silk, English tulle, Mountain Goat, lambskin, and pony fur leathers. Gallagher’s signature twisted seams finish turtleneck sleeves and leggings.

Hallow is Gallagher’s 16th collection. Gallagher’s past collections have been celebrated by Vogue, The Cut, Nylon, Glamour, Refinery 29, W Magazine and Teen Vogue, among others, for her attention to detail, superior craftsmanship, and creativity. She pulls inspiration from her childhood, music, art, and her life in New York City. More information is available at katiegallagher.com.

America’s Next Top Model Season 23 Episode 10 Recap

On Wednesday night’s episode of America’s Next Top Model Season 23 the contestants participated (in both) a celebrity feminist initiative and emulated iconic women.

Model and Activist Amber Rose requested the girls to create a PSA for the “Slutwalk” Movement. Cast members where asked to develop a video that empowers women to have control over their sexuality.

In the second challenge, contestants emulated women that have influenced Pop Culture, Fashion, and Entertainment.  Cory Anne struggled to take on Beyonce’s persona and Paige was expected to become Brittany Spears.  The most difficult persona was Tatiana becoming Tyra Banks, founder of the show.

During elimination, the panelist expressed that several of the contestants were “too comfortable” and wasn’t pleased with the photo results.

Paige was eliminated from the contest and Rita Ora stated, “This is not the end of your career as a model.”  Watch the full episode here: Platform Power

The first shoes created were initially designed to fulfill the role of protection from various harms but as people have honed their skills during the passage of time they’ve become a status symbol. Shoe designers have transformed shoes into pieces of art and not only will a great crafted pair set you back a hefty amount of money but one should queue up a waiting list in order to benefit for such amazing works of minute craftsmanship taking into account there is a huge demand for them.

Shoes play a crucial role in fashion and they have even led to some stereotypes regarding women being shoe addicts but nowadays this same principle applies to men as well. People now perceive shoes as a statement of fashion and they have been the most important accessory for every occasion and not only are they the most important accessory in our wardrobes but they also confer the wearer a feeling of high status and a great degree of confidence if they are of top quality.

Notwithstanding for which occasion they are worn, either at a special event or just for going out for a quick run, there are a lot of factors which should be taken in consideration such as build quality, design and functionality when choosing the perfect pair. No matter if one wishes to dash out large amounts of money on designer shoes or just want to grab a cheap pair to go for a run, there is always the right pair for the right occasion.
