Supermodel Martha Hunt x Pluma Capsule Collection Inegal

Supermodel and Scoliosis survivor Martha Hunt teams up with PLUMA to create the capsule collection “Inégal” which debuted in June 2017.  Together Martha and PLUMA have created two beautiful and inspiring designs sales from which will benefit two charities: The Scoliosis Research Society and The Curvy Girls Scoliosis Foundation.

 Caroline 1 in Rhodium

($515.00 in Rhodium, and Gold)

Caroline 2 in Rhodium

($440 in Rhodium and Gold)

The “Caroline” necklaces in the Inégal collection benefit The Scoliosis Research Foundation. The two special edition designs are available in rhodium and 24 karat gold, is handcrafted in Italy and made of plated brass plates with leather straps.  Interlocked, the plates emulate vertebrae creating a metallic spine choker.  The designs themselves are named “Caroline” after Martha’s mother who gave Martha the love and support she needed to battle the disorder.  “Caroline 1” has scales or vertebrae that are 2 inches in length while the “Caroline 2” has 1 ½ inch vertebrae.

Alyson in Gold

($39)

Alyson in Silver (Gunmetal)

($39)

The “Alyson” necklaces in the Inégal collection benefit Curvy Girls Scoliosis Foundation – an international network of peer-led support groups for girls with scoliosis. Two special edition “Alyson” necklaces, available in gold and silver (gunmetal), are named after Alyson Gerber who is the author of Braced, a novel about a twelve-year old girl’s first year in her scoliosis brace.  With one side emblazoned with “Inégal” and the other with “Resilient,” the piece is meant to celebrate and honor those who have scoliosis.

Martha Hunt wears the Alyson in Gold

“We created pieces that would honor the beauty of the spine, its simplicity, and genius.  The design also calls to mind how integral the spine is to human life and the burden that Scoliosis causes to the people who suffer from it with elegant simplicity, which is also reflected in the name “Inégal” meaning unequal or uneven.” – Brendan Cannon, PLUMA Creative Director

“Brendan Cannon is a friend of mine and has a pure heart.  Together we discussed the idea of designing beautiful jewelry, inspired by the experience of having Scoliosis, the Inégal Collection.  As 100% of the proceeds of this portion of the collection will benefit Curvy Girl Scoliosis Foundation, I want women who wear the “Inégal” collection to feel beautiful and empowered.”- Martha Hunt

In connection with the tradition, Daniel Grier and Derek De Anre launched Magic City Fashion Week 2017 to recognize the Birmingham fashion community.  MCFW showcased the artistic efforts of designers throughout the week of October 24-28, 2017.

Last night featured Streetstyle Thursday at Macy’s Brookwood in the IMPULSE Department. Christine Lee from Sober Culture served as the host along with runway styling from Magic City Fashion Week Team members Emma Ford, Portia Nichole, and Aliscia Marie.

Free People, Kensi, Rachel Roy, and Jay Walker were the highlighted designers worn by models. The fashion show was amazing and proceeds/donations supported the Birmingham Aids Outreach Organization.

The trade show also included live shows from The Firefighter Fashion Show Benefiting the American Cancer Society and entertainment from The Six Sliders Line Dance / Fitness Ministry.

Attendees registered for fun prizes and participated in cooking demonstrations.  As stated on The Southern Women’s Show website, “the real excitement begins when you arrive!”

Pronovias 2018 Bridal Runway Show: Innovative Designs and Feminine Curves

The 2018 Atelier Pronovias bridal runway show, which took place today in New York City. Notable front row guests included Actress Katie Cassidy, Bloggers Mary Seng and Jessi Malay, and TV Host Andy Adler.

The new Atelier Pronovias 2018 Collection is defined by the concept of a WISH. Taking inspiration from dreams and desires, with water as the main element, this collection highlights the magical movement of waves, the fluidity of currents and the sparkle of water droplets in exquisite models designed to enhance the bride’s femininity.

The new looks are a fresh take on volume, a highlight in this collection, with innovative designs that lighten up patterns and reinvent silhouettes such as the flared line, designed to emphasize the bride’s curves and bring more movement and fluidity to the skirt. The envelope was pushed this season to give brides endless possibilities to play up their figures. Pronounced side cleavage, with elegant sheer effects, brings those attractive feminine curves to the forefront.

Thread embroidery, the star of this collection, is a testament to the atelier’s firm commitment to a thoughtful combination of materials and fabrics. Silk gauze, organza and Mikado add volume, while crepe and soft satin outline the bride’s figure, which is set off by the French lace that is a hallmark of the atelier’s dresses.

This year’s brides will sparkle more than ever with white gemstone embroidery that gives the collection a very sophisticated touch. Sensational jeweled dresses add a special glimmer to the designs and are combined with sleeve and neckline appliqués, creating a magical effect reminiscent of falling water, another distinguishing feature this season.

And convertible dresses give brides countless ways to shine on their big day. These transformable designs are complemented by layers, trains, overskirts and detachable boleros, allowing brides to show off different styles as the celebration progresses.

The new Atelier Pronovias 2018 Collection dazzles at every turn, making it –once again– the essence of good taste and quality.

About Pronovias

Pronovias was born as a family business over 50 years ago. The brand began operating under the name ‘El Suizo’, a prestigious Barcelona store in 1922 that specialized in lace, embroidery, and high-quality silk fabrics. The company presented its first collection of prêt-a-porter wedding gowns in Spain in 1964 – and Pronovias was born.

For over five decades, Alberto Palatchi Ribera has managed the group and its expansion process, conveying a philosophy of quality and design that typifies its work. In July 2017, the group BC Partners became one of the stockholders with the purpose of promoting the brand’s international growth.

Pronovias is currently present in more than 105 countries with 155 shops and over 4,000 points of sale. The firm’s goal is to continue to grow and open shops, both in the countries where it is already present and in new markets. On an international level, Pronovias recently opened flagship stores in cities such as Paris, Mexico City, Rome, Brussels and Berlin. Today, Pronovias Fashion Group is a global leader in bridal fashion that is present around the world.
