Rihanna and Cardi B: Met Gala Hair with Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer

Celebrity hairstylists Yusef Williams and Toyko Stylez used the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer professional edition ($449.99) to style the hair of top celebrities, Rihanna, and Cardi B at the 2018 MET Gala.

HOW TO (By Yusef Williams, Rihanna’s hair stylist)

Inspiration: “John Galliano is the inspiration of all inspiration. For this look, I wanted to go back in time and create this Vatican-homage, but with a single finger wave to make it feel modern and more avant-garde.”

  1. Begin with wet hair and blow dry on high heat using the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer professional edition
  2. Once dry, I used the Phyto Specific Curl Legend Spray to hydrate before pulling the hair into a pony
  3. I then used the Phyto Professional Workable Holding Spray and Fiber Paste and continued drying the hair
  4. I didn’t need a flat iron because the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer professional edition is so good.
  5. From here I created finger waves on either side of her face, using the flat iron to create the flat waves. Then brushed out using a fine tail comb, locking in the shape with the Phyto Professional Workable Holding Spray

HOW TO (By Tokyo Stylez, Cardi B’s hair stylist)

  1. Prep hair with Avlon Kera Care Foam Wrap-Set Lotion
  2. Blow dry with a round brush on high heat using the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer professional edition
  3. Use a ½ inch curling wand to style hair using OGX Shimmering Keratin Oil to give the hair shine
  4. Use a paddle brush to blow try again with the  Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer professional edition to give a nice flowy kinky textured look
  5. Finish the look with Paul Mitchell INVISIBLEWEAR Undone Texture Hairspray and Pantene Pro-V Hairspray to lock in the style

Recreate The Look: Met Gala Hair and Yara Shahidi

Yara’s hair made a classic but bold and voluminous statement for last night’s Met Gala.

Inspiration: Naivasha was inspired by “Whimsical Texture.” She wanted to celebrate texture in the most glamorous way with a 60-inch ponytail.

To Recreate the Look:

  • Start by saturating the hair in quadrants and tame any frizz by using the John Frieda Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse and brush through thoroughly with a paddle brush
  • Part hair into a 3 section triangle and apply John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Air Dry Waves Styling Foam to enhance curls and create a touchable-soft style. Brush each section smoothly to the nape
  • Next, gather the 3 sections and wrap tightly with a hair bungee to secure a sleek ponytail. Take a section of the hair and wrap around pony to cover the bungee
  • Then, gently mist the ponytail with John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioner to give the hair moisturized and keep it hydrated through the night
  • As a final touch, Naivasha added a veil to Yara’s look
