The Show, Held The Wednesday Before Coachella, Will Feature The Highly Anticipated Alice + Olivia X Grateful Dead Capsule Collection Paired With Limited Edition Items From The Spring 2016 Collection.

Tuesday, March 29, 2016 (Los Angeles, CA): alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet is pleased to announce that the brand, in partnership with Neiman Marcus, will hold their first ever See-Now-Buy-Now runway show on Wednesday, April 13 at Neuehouse Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The show, held the Wednesday before Coachella, will feature the highly anticipated alice + olivia x Grateful Dead capsule collection paired with limited edition items from the Spring 2016 collection. Twelve exclusive items will be available at www.aliceandolivia.com and www.neimanmarcus.com.

Ken Downing, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus, will co-style the runway show with Stacey Bendet, CEO and Creative Director of alice + olivia. The runway show will be streamed live from Los Angeles on both alice + olivia’s and Neiman Marcus’ social channels, including Periscope and Facebook Live; both www.aliceandolivia.com and www.neimanmarcus.com will host videos of the runway show beginning Friday, April 15, 2016.

The official announcement of Bendet’s foray into the See-Now-Buy-Now runway follows on the heels of the CFDA’s release of the results of the Boston Consulting Group’s study of the future of New York Fashion Week on its website, www.CFDA.com, earlier this month.

Among the findings, the study revealed that there is unanimous consensus around the need for change to the decades-old Fashion Week system and the call for designers to deliver collections to consumers in a format that is rooted in in-season relevancy, both of which alice + olivia directly cites as reasoning behind the conception of the idea to host the alice + olivia See-Now-Buy-Now runway show next month.

As alice + olivia embarks on the journey to modernizing their brand to match the consumer needs with a festival-themed See-Now-Buy-Now runway show in Los Angeles immediately prior to the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music Festival, the brand embodies the CFDA’s call out of the study, “that deliveries must better match the actual, physical season and our consumers’ behaviors and needs.”

Stacey Bendet, CEO & Creative Director of the New York based contemporary clothing company, has spent months working to assemble a curated offering of Buy-Now items to send down the runway that would indeed meet her consumers’ behaviors and needs.

“I hope to inspire consumers worldwide to kick off their festival season with alice + olivia,” said Bendet, “a See-Now-Buy-Now runway show is something I have been wanting to do for a few seasons but it took time to feel out when and where felt right…I wanted what I showed on that runway to be relevant to what consumers actually want to wear, now. I came up with the idea to have the show around Coachella and have the runway looks be based upon things that every girl would want to wear to a music festival.”

Twelve exclusive styles will be available on www.aliceandolivia.com, www.neimanmarcus.com and www.cusp.com once the runway show begins at 7PM PT on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills will also have a selection of the runway styles, along with several exclusive items, which include two alice + olivia X Grateful Dead pieces.

Ralph and Ruso SS16 Collection – Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week started with a beautiful collection of couture gowns. Ralph and Ruso, the luxury goods company showcased designs with an ornate, beaded flair.  The Spring/Summer 2016 Collection featured cape style dresses,  chiffon robes, and organza ribbon wave skirts.

Balmain x HM Collection Launch

Everyone’s waiting for the much-anticipated launch of the Balmain x HM Collection.  Rumor has it, the collection leaked today but we waited too late to jump on the story!  At any rate, Balmain is considered to be one of my favorite designers and I have no problem waiting for the entire collection.

The collaboration with Oliver Rousteing will be available on November 5, 2015 at HM stores nationwide. Customers can shop online or in-store for the designs.  Kendall Jenner’s also one of the models for the famous campaign.  The collection will be for menswear, womenswear, and accessories.

No worries Balmaination, Style + Life + Fashion will wait for the November launch and wave our flag for the Balmain Army!

THE DESIGNER

Prabal Gurung launched his eponymous collection in February 2009 with a philosophy encompassing modern luxury, bold femininity and an astute sense of glamour.

Gurung was born in Singapore and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. After beginning his design career in New Delhi he moved to New York to finish his studies at Parsons The New School for Design. Upon graduating, Gurung spent two years with Cynthia Rowley’s design and production teams. Soon after, he was appointed design director at the iconic Bill Blass, a post he held for five years until launching his own collection, PRABAL GURUNG.

A focus on quality and innovation has placed Gurung at the forefront of American fashion with designs worn by leading ladies including First Lady Michelle Obama and The Duchess of Cambridge, to name a few. In 2010 he was the recipient of the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award and selected as runner up for the 2010 CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund. In 2011 Gurung was honored as one of USA Network’s Character Approved Award recipients, named goodwill ambassador of Maiti Nepal, a finalist of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award and was the recipient of the 2011 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear. Prabal Gurung was the official 2013 designer collaborator for Target and in September 2014 launched footwear on the Spring 2015 runway.

THE PARTNERSHIP

Prabal Gurung collaborated with Sally Hansen for the tenth consecutive season to create three exclusive nail polish shades to compliment his Fall 2015 collection, which is a graphic, modern take on effortless glamour.

THE DESIGNER

With an innate desire to create beautiful things, Detroit native Tracy Reese headed for Manhattan in 1982 to attend Parsons School of Design where she received an accelerated degree in 1984. Upon graduation, Reese apprenticed under designer Martine Sitbon while working for the small contemporary firm, Arlequin. Reese has also worked at the some of the industry’s top fashion houses, including Perry Ellis where she was the design director for Women’s Portfolio.

In 1996, Reese launched her eponymous collection to rave reviews. Perfect for the modern woman, Reese’s debut showcased ultra-feminine, polished pieces layered with intelligent nostalgia, charm and glamour; a distinctive look that the designer has since become known for.

A member of the CFDA since 2000, Reese has severed as a member of the Board of Directors since 2007. She is also a key player in selecting recipients to receive grants from the CFDA’s AIDS-Fund initiatives.

THE PARTNERSHIP

For the nineteenth consecutive season, Tracy Reese collaborated with nail color leader Sally Hansen to create three exclusive nail colors that complemented her Fall 2015 Collection.

Sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy launched Rodarte in 2005 and quickly became known as the go-to house for couture, known for their intricate hand stitching and romantic details.  They have won numerous fashion awards such as the 2008 CFDA Swarovski Emerging Womenswear Designer award and the 2008 Swiss Textiles Award.  Leading ladies like Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Kirsten Dunst, Michelle Obama, Chloe Sevigny, Tilda Swinton, Elle Fanning, and Reese Witherspoon have all worn Rodarte’s idiosyncratic yet sophisticated styles.

 

THE PARTNERSHIP

For the fifth season in a row, Rodarte has once again turned to nail color authority Sally Hansen to create three limited edition Complete Salon Manicure nail polish colors. The designers’ highly anticipated Fall 2015 Collection served as a muse for Sally Hansen’s nail color creations. The Fall 2015 nails are inspired by translucent color and the subtlety of watercolors.

B.DESCAI Fashion Collection: Love Bloom…an Evolution of Love

B. DESCAI is a fashion line that’s known for it’s blend of vogue and fairytale articulation.  The designer (Brandon Descai) featured his newest collection titled, “Love Bloom…an Evolution of Love” on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at EMP Collective located in Baltimore, Maryland.

According to the designer the show, “takes audiences on a love ride with garments inspired from the fast paced, surprising yest whisimical effect that love offers.”

Personally, I am “over the moon” with the designs and styling for this show.  It is the perfect combination between art, drama, and couture.  Some of the accessories used for the show are playful head pieces and “mod”  tights.

In my opinion, the B. DESCAI show is very reminiscint of vintage Betsey Johnson from the nineties.  With such a beautiful collection, there’s no question that this show was a success!
