Casual Crewneck Chiffon Summer Dress – Sunday Style

Let’s talk about this dress.  It’s simply amazing from the tunic cut to the free-flowing style.  I have a secret to share!  In the summer months, I primarily shop online.  This is because not only do I run a local business but my boys are home for the summer.

That means there’s no time for excessive running around to stores.  More so, I spend the majority of my hours making memories with the kids.

Our days involve crafts, swimming or visiting the local library.  But, looking great doesn’t have to be compromised!  I just do a small shift with my shopping strategy.

The dress in this post was purchased from Amazon.  Honestly, I was hesitant because online shopping can be tricky.  The first step is to know my measurements and the style of dress that accentuates my shape.  The second step is to take into consideration my problem areas along with colors that compliment my complexion.

The jewelry that I’m wearing in this picture was purchased from a thrift shop.  I love thrifting but that’s another blog post!

Discovering Your Personal Style

Recently, I’ve added style photos to my social media feed.  I wanted to share my personal style, which is categorized as chic and modern.

This leads me to the topic for the blog post. How can someone discover his or her personal style? Essentially it’s about self-awareness and understanding your clothing preferences. The definition of style is, “a distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed.”

The first step to discovering your personal style is identifying a style icon. Do you prefer the total appearance of Lady Gaga or Michelle Obama?  Grab a few magazines and create a stylebook.

The next action is to visit your closet and examine pieces you have worn on numerous occasions.  This could be a fedora hat or cardigan sweater.  Are those items complimenting your features and body type (circle, triangle, hourglass, rectangle)?

Consider your lifestyle and occupation when curating your wardrobe.  A corporate executive should invest in a high quality suit; same concept applies for weekly Pilates sessions.

Accessories are the best assets for discovering your personal style.  They allow you to change a look without purchasing new clothing.  A classic wristwatch can upgrade an inexpensive blouse.

Ultimately, it’s about feeling great and presenting yourself in a positive manner!

Quick Wardrobe Tips:

  •  Invest in alterations for ill-fitting items
  •  Use the dry-cleaners sparingly – can damage clothing fibers
  •  Spend extra money on work shoes, blazers, jeans, bras, suiting, and outerwear
  •  Find unique pieces at consignment or thrift shops

Birthday Celebration Recap: Brunch, Tattoos, and The Best Man Holiday

I had the opportunity to celebrate my birthday on Sunday, November 17, 2013.  Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I had a dull birthday.  From my 30th birthday party at Pazo Lounge to the year we had champagne and cake with friends, my birthday has been a day to remember for a long time.  So this year was no exception and we charged into the day with full force!

Everyone knows that I love a good brunch and since my special day was on Sunday, having a delicious brunch was the perfect start to my day.  We ate at Miss Shirly’s Cafe because this is my favorite brunch spot in the Inner Harbor.  The menu at Miss Shirly’s has a southern flair and has become a new tradition in our family (we also eat there on Christmas Eve.)  I ordered a “Miss Mimosa” to drink along with a Maryland Omelet and Apple – Smoked Bacon on the side.

From there we left Miss Shirly’s Cafe and I decided to face my fear of needles by getting a butterfly tattoo on my upper back.  I wanted something attractive that will show off my shoulders during the summer months. We decided to have it done at The Baltimore Tattoo Museum which is a very artistic, cool place.  I channeled my inner strength and survived my first (and last) tattoo.  I will share photos once the “butterfly” has healed.

After laughing and exchanging stories, the adventure continued with us having Margarita’s at a local Mexican restaurant.  I love Mexican cuisine, so it was the perfect place to grab a quick dinner.

The evening ended with us watching The Best Man Holiday which is one of our favorite movies (amongst our friends.) We have watched the first movie a million times, so we were very excited to view the sequel.  The Best Man Holiday delivered everything that I had anticipated!  The plot was rich with drama, characters reminded me of old friends, and the setting was absolutely beautiful.

Honestly, I’ve had really great birthday celebrations but this year was EPIC!  I can’t imagine what we will do next year…maybe ride a motorcycle across the country or something!

Tiffany & Co. New Website: Redesigned Site Showcases The Jewelers Renowned Heritage and Legendary Collections

New York, NY (October 21, 2013)—Tiffany & Co. announces the redesign of tiffany.com, a dynamic portal to the jeweler’s legendary collections, with interactive pathways to explore its celebrated heritage and prominence in the worlds of design, glamour and true love.

The new tiffany.com (#TiffanyNewSite and @TiffanyandCo) is designed as a personal invitation to visit Tiffany & Co. for a quick shopping trip or to explore the site’s many stories on the company’s milestones and masterpieces, as well as the beauty and excellence of Tiffany today. Stunning high-resolution visuals create a vivid environment, where users may customize searches by category, designer, price, materials and gemstones, with enhanced zoom capability and myriad views of jewelry on models and in videos.

The site’s new sections focus on Tiffany & Co. as founder of American luxury and its evolution as one of the world’s preeminent jewelers. Blue Book, the company’s collection of spectacular couture jewels, is showcased as never before. These rarest of creations, the pinnacle of the jeweler’s art, are illuminated with breathtaking imagery, including scenes from the Tiffany Workshop above the Fifth Avenue flagship store, where these extraordinary jewels are brought to life.

As the jeweler synonymous with diamonds and love, Tiffany expands the Engagement section with a wealth of information that leads users to the perfect ring. Services include a gemologist’s video and review of Tiffany’s quality standards that exceed the 4Cs, with clear distinctions as to cut, color, clarity and carat weight. The site also allows users to choose a ring, specify carat size and skin tone and view it on a model’s hand; or download Tiffany’s Engagement Ring Finder app (for iPhone®, iPad® and Android™), where they can select and share rings.

Diamonds are a key topic of Sustainability that highlights Tiffany’s standing as the industry leader in sourcing gemstones and precious metals only from mines who share the company’s core beliefs—protection of the environment, respect for human rights and support for the communities in which it does business.

The World of Tiffany looks at fashion and glamour from specific points of view: Tiffany Style has the inside story on the newest jewelry designs, sharing space with Tiffany designers (the ravishing jewels of Jean Schlumberger, the revolutionary creations of Elsa Peretti) and videos. The Latest goes global, covering celebrity culture, Tiffany diamonds on the red carpet and the excitement of opening Tiffany stores from Hong Kong to Paris.

In addition, the World of Tiffany covers The Tiffany Story, a timeline of the company’s history from its founding in 1837 in New York City, as well as What Makes Love True, with stories of real-life couples who recall—on film and in photographs—the thrill of it all.

This big-picture view of Tiffany & Co. also includes the pleasures of dining and entertaining at home. Through beautifully styled scenarios—a formal dinner, afternoon tea, holiday feast, wedding brunch—users may discover the world of Tiffany china, crystal, sterling silver flatware and accessories that define the art of living well.

Tiffany & Co. operates jewelry stores and manufactures products through its subsidiary corporations. Its principal subsidiary is Tiffany and Company. The Company operates TIFFANY & CO. retail stores and boutiques in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Japan, Europe and the United Arab Emirates and engages in direct selling through Internet, catalogue and business gift operations. For additional information, please visit Tiffany.com.
