Looking Your Best: Quality Pieces and Seasonal Colors

The last few weeks have been extremely busy.  From moving into a new subdivision to developing my business structure.  Despite the busyness of life, I believe in looking your best.  This concept varies from day-to-day.

For example, crazy school mornings call for leggings and a pull-over.  While afternoon meetings include a blazer, jeans, and flats.  I dress according to the occasion; no heels at the grocery store.

Looking your best doesn’t have to cost a fortune.  Simple quality pieces can update any outfit.  For example, gold earrings, silk scarves, structured handbag, diamond studs, leather belt, and trench coat can pull together last-minute appearance.

Lately, I’m a huge believer in wearing seasonal colors.  Some of us love the classic tone of wearing black but why not try a Lavender t-shirt or Sky Blue earrings?  Fashion can be a fun experience when we coordinate and invest the time!

How To Mix & Match: Find the Perfect Outfit

Finding the right color for your outfit is no easy task.  You have probably read a thousand articles online telling you what works which makes it even harder for you to get the best results out of your wardrobe.

Use a Color Wheel

A lot of people talk about colors that compliment each other, which may lead you to believe that you should use colors that are similar to one another. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Black and white for example are actually classed as being complementary colors. This is why they look so great together and as they say, opposites do have a tendency to attract. Every color out there has a color that compliments and for this reason, you may want to try to use a color wheel. When using a color wheel you will quickly see the colors that work well and this is a great way for you to spice up your outfit.

Get Inspiration Online

You may find a top and jeans that you like as well. The problem is that when you put these items together, you may find they just don’t work. If you want to avoid all of this then it helps to look at the clothes that models are wearing. This will help you to know what style they are utilizing so that you can then apply it to your own wardrobe. Buying full outfits online is a great way to know if something is going to work and you would be surprised at how easy it is for you to get a deal online. If you don’t want to buy online because you are worried that the clothes won’t fit, simply go to stitch it and they can alter it for you.

Black and White is Your Friend

Neutral colors can really go a long way. If you want to mix colors but you are not sure if it is going to work then black and white is a brilliant way for you to stay safe. If you don’t want to go black and white then consider opting for colors such as white with beige or even grey. It does help to opt for colors such as brown as well, as this will help you to stay neutral while also making a very strong fashion statement. Long coats in beige or grey are also great and this is especially the case when you pair them with jeans and even some black boots as well.

So it isn’t easy to find the perfect wardrobe, but shopping for you and not for trends, you can be sure to find something that makes you feel more confident. Remember that jeans can work with just about anything and that black pants can work with nearly every single top out there. If you want to branch out, use the above tips and even use a color wheel as well.

Everyday Style and Goal Setting: #OOTD OR #WIW

Recently, I have shared several Instagram photos wearing a blanket scarf and coordinating accessories.  Primarily because it’s very cold and blanket scarfs are a quick option to add a touch of chic to any outfit.

They’re inexpensive and layer over sweaters, button-down shirts, and cute dresses.  I’ve also struggled with keeping my head warm and will quickly grab a leather hat.

Aside from the brisk weather we are embarking upon the New Year.  This is the perfect time to re-evaluate goals, aspirations, and relationships whether it’s family or friends.

I have started to map out the direction of my personal and professional objectives. A few of my goals are volunteering and implementing new elements to my business.

I like to take goal setting a step forward by purchasing organizational tools that will keep me on track.  What are your goals for the upcoming year?  How do you re-evaluate and make changes?

Everyday Style and Lookbook Inspiration: #OOTD or #WIW

Recently, I have shared some of my personal looks on social media or as it’s said on Instagram #OOTD (outfit of the day) or #WIW (what I’m wearing) because I want to provide inspiration in terms of everyday style.

It’s always fun to play dress-up but what about the day-to-day hustle of getting dressed?  As women, we wear so many hats and it’s often difficult to find something that’s appropriate to wear.  My job on this blog (and through consulting) is to provide style solutions and I’m going to do just that!

7 Facts You Didn’t Know About Me: Plaid Blanket Wrap Shawl #OOTD or #WIW

 

My birthday was last Friday, which is the perfect opportunity to share seven facts you didn’t know about me.  I started this blog as a creative outlet but as time passed it has become more than I would’ve ever imagined.

I love my readers and want them (meaning you) to know more about me as an individual. So, here we go…

7 Facts You Didn’t Know About Me:

  1. I learned how to sew when I was seven years old.
  2. Throughout college I maintained a Theater Scholarship.  Never had an idea that I would actually use those skills from my television course.
  3. In middle school I participated in the Poetry Contest reciting pieces from Maya Angelou and Nikki Giovanni.
  4. I prefer a glass of Merlot over Chardonnay; it contains antioxidants.
  5. My favorite personal outlet is reading and obsessing over magazines.
  6. I am a huge 80’s fanatic from the movies, music, and clothing.
  7. My dream vacation would be visiting Egypt.

#OOTD – meaning Outfit of The Day

This particular day was no different from any other beyond the fact that the cold snap has come South.  Although living on the East Coast for several years, my body has become accustomed to seasonal warmth.

Therefore, I needed to layer-up and wear something that would protect me from the cool air.  I opted for a wrap shawl and sweater dress.  Another tidbit is that I’m a texture person and this dress had a soft blend.  Opaque tights and boots gave me extra warmth for a day of running errands.

If you’re the type of girl who likes cutting edge style on a budget, then H&M is the place for you.  This on-trend, chain retailer can rarely be ignored with its mixture of modern and glamorous pieces.
