What To Wear – Fall 2016 Coat Trends

Yesterday marks the first day of Fall and I have selected a few stylish (affordable) coats to assist with cold weather layering.  From a practical sense, we shop during this time of the year to stay warm but there’s also a fashionable purpose.

Retailers provide stylish outerwear because this is the first wardrobe piece that’s visually seen during the brisk season.  Friends, family, and co-workers will notice your coat before any additional clothing item. Personally, I like to purchase outerwear for various social occasions such as Business Meetings, Football Games, Shopping Events, and Formal Affairs.

Fashion designers also suggest that coats should be paired with trendy accessories including a wide belt, knee boots, plaid scarf, or bohemian hat.

The options are endless when shopping for outerwear and don’t forget to purchase in various colors, designs, and textures.

Butter Elixir: 5 FALL TRAVEL BAG UPGRADES

“It’s difficult enough as it is to fit everything you need for a weekend getaway or midweek work trip into a carry-on suitcase so when it comes to your beauty bag, less is always more. To prevent lugging around a vanity full of products, look for things that can pull double-duty; a oil for hair AND body, a cosmetics bag that doubles as clutch – you get the idea. Also, keep in mind that paring down should not mean giving up quality. Splurge on luxe minis, you and your hair will be much happier. Here are 5 travel bag upgrades you should make asap.” written by

Kingsmill Resort and River Contest

Are we are all late to the party? Every mountain, lake, island, desert and forest is already named in America. It must have been a blast in 1607 to land in what’s now the United States and say, “Hey, let’s name that river The James after our dear old king, and let’s name that one over there The York River to remind us of home!” So now, in 2016, we’ve got nothing to name except our kids and pets.

Or do we?

Down on the Virginia Peninsula in Williamsburg, intrepid travelers and vacationers have discovered a new waterway, a river– and it has no official name. The powers that be, being amazingly creative, call it the “No Name River,” but even they now think it should have a proper name given tens of thousands of people come from all over the U.S. to swim, play, float and jump into it. It’s not navigable to commercial traffic; there is no industry on it; and the water is so clear you can see to the bottom.

And they want the public to name this river.

The river is found at Kingsmill Resort, and it surges with 250,000 gallons of water and travels an incredible 500 feet. It has no headwater and no mouth, but it flows at around 3 miles per hour and is ideal for floating, wallowing and rafting on colored tubes, given it goes around and around, yet never really begins or ends.

The naming contest is simple. Anyone over 18 can go to

www.kingsmill.com/name-the-lazy-river and enter their suggestion by November 1, 2016. There are rules, so check them out, and the winner will be notified on November 4, 2016, and receive a free “Kingsmill Loving Summer Prize Package” for 4 people with two nights accommodations, daily breakfast and a $25 credit to spend at the lazy river when it opens on Memorial Day weekend in 2017.

For information, dive into www.kingsmill.com or call (800) 832-5665.

TYRA BANKS, TRACEY AFRICA, GEENA ROCERO, DIVERSE WOMEN OF COLOR ON COVER OF HARPER’S BAZAAR

Art Director and Executive producer, Christopher Sollinger, cast various industry icons, veterans, and new faces for the historic cover series of the next edition of “Harper’s Bazaar India”. Nine versions of the magazine will be available, each featuring a different woman of color on the cover including Tyra Banks as well as Tracey Africa and Geena Rocero, who become the first transgender women to appear on the cover of the iconic “Harper’s Bazaar.” Sollinger produced the shoot over the course of a week in New York.

cover_1-1cover_2cover_3cover_4cover_5cover_6cover_7cover_8

‘The Nine Wonders of the World’ cover series is a twist on the unofficial title sometimes given to those new buildings, structures, projects or even designs that are deemed to be comparable. The series interprets and showcases this “new” as diversity. The new being that diversity is acceptable and celebrated today.

“Diversity has always been the DNA of Harper’s Bazaar. The Indian edition is delighted to follow in such illustrious steps”, said Harper’s Bazaar India Editor Nonita Kalra.

“Showcasing white woman after white woman on covers does not work anymore, we need to show the women of the world that is of now,” said Sollinger. “The world is changing and with this story we want to be apart of that global revolution.”

“This cover means the world to me and for me to represent my community, it is such a humbling experience for me, I can’t thank Christopher and Harper’s Bazaar for allowing me to be on the cover,” said Tracey Norman.

“It is an honor to be on this historic cover series with the women that I’ve looked up to. Growing up in the Philippines I used to dream of being on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar”, said Rocero.

Get the Look: Priyanka Chopra 2016 Emmys

The 68th Annual Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles Priyanka Chopra shined on the red carpet in her custom-made designer gown, and sleek yet chic twisted pony! Her go-to hairstylist Castillo used MOP haircare and ghd products to create this glamourous and sophisticated look.

“I started with a wash which is the foundation. I used MOP mixed greens shampoo ($20) and stuck with a moisturizing one to help her hair withstand humidity and heat from the tools.

Next I used MOP’s pear detangler ($22) and combed through her hair to untangle and minimize frizz. I added  MOP mixed greens leave-in conditioner from mid-shaft to the end to help coat any damage or dryness, then I added a bit of the MOP lemongrass lift ($22) root spray to help with setting the hair.

I rough blow-dried the hair using the ghd Air Hairdryer ($199) until it was about 80% dry, then brushed through it with the ghd Paddle Brush ($55) to take out any tangles.

With a tail comb I created the side part, then section by section I flat brush blow-dried the hair straight and then went back over each section with the ghd Platinum Styler ($249) from mid hair shaft to end.

Once I was done straightening, I took a dollop sized amount of MOP orange peel molding cream ($22) and coated root to mid hair shaft the side of her hair. I brushed it through with a finishing brush and then with a twisting motion I twisted it behind her ear and down the back of her neck.

I repeated this same technique, minus the twist and gathered her hair into a low ponytail, secured it with a hair bungee and wrapped a section of hair around the bungee to conceal it.

To finish, I made my final touches of MOP’s c-system firm hair spray ($24) around the hair line and around the ponytail.”

The dress color (lemon) accented her skin complexion; along with a draped cut and plunging neckline.

Angela was poised, beautiful, and timeless.  She’s definitely my top selection for the Emmys 2016 celebrity style!
