Dove & Kelly Rowland Hair Anthem Inspires Girls Everywhere To Rock Their Hair

Tyrelle Davis and Faith Fennidy, both 11- years old, made headlines when they were sent home from school because of their hair extensions. Eleven-year-old Jorja Orrick was bullied for having short hair, which prompted her sister Sarah to cut her own locks in solidarity. With real stories like these and a history of helping young girls build self-esteem, Dove was inspired to join forces with Kelly Rowland to write and produce an original song titled, “Crown” — a power anthem that aims to break down the narrow definition of beautiful hair and encourage girls to feel confident in wearing it how they choose. The resounding call: “Wear it proud. #MyHairMyCrown.

“Growing up, I felt many of the pressures young girls face today when it comes to embracing their hair, but my mom would always tell me that your hair is your crowning glory and you should wear it proudly,” said Kelly Rowland. “This song is very personal to me and, having met many of the real girls who inspired it, I am incredibly proud to be partnering with Dove to spark this conversation and encourage girls everywhere to love their hair.”

Dove has long been committed to celebrating all hair types and styles through campaigns such as Love Your Curls and Love Your Hair. To further these efforts, the brand conducted a survey to better understand how to inspire hair confidence in young girls. The study found that 65 percent of young girls view their hair as a form of self-expression, however, nearly 50 percent say their hair can make them feel self-conscious. The brand also discovered that 71 percent of girls look to music as an influential factor in their lives, which inspired the brand to reach girls through this medium with the creation of “Crown”.

“Dove wants all young girls, and women, to have the confidence to wear their hair any way they choose and to see their hair as a source of confidence, not anxiety,” said Piyush Jain, Unilever Vice President of Marketing and General Manager of Hair Care. “As a brand, we are committed to celebrating all hair types, especially for young girls who start thinking about their hair’s appearance as early as age 7. Working with Kelly Rowland to produce ‘Crown’ allows us to share that message in an exciting way that we believe will resonate with girls everywhere.”

To help spread the anthem’s inspiring message, the brand will make a cameo during “E! Live From The Red Carpet: The 2019 Grammy Awards” ahead of the biggest award show in music on February 10, 2019. The special two-minute, a televised spot will feature clips from the music video for “Crown”, directed by Hannah Lux Davis, and a special message from Kelly Rowland to inspire people everywhere to join in the #MyHairMyCrown conversation.

Additionally, Dove Global Self-Esteem Ambassador, Jess Weiner, and Dove Self-Esteem Educator, Dre Brown, will lead an impactful workshop specifically designed to address topics around expressing self-confidence through embracing and celebrating all hair types. Kelly Rowland will reveal the curriculum and serve as a mentor during the workshop with young people from a local Boys & Girls Club. Dove is the largest provider of self-esteem education in the world. Through the Dove Self-Esteem Project, we have reached 29 million young people with a goal to reach another 20 million by 2020. Dove is encouraging young girls and women from all over to join in spreading this anthem far and wide. Head to YouTube and Vevo to watch and share the music video and exclusive behind the scenes content featuring the real girls who inspired the song.

Debuting February 6, 2019, the single will be released on Universal Music’s Island Records UK and available to stream on all streaming platforms.

Dr. Mathew Knowles and Mrs. Gena Knowles Dressed By Designer Gert-Johan Coetzee: South African Fashion Week

A fortuitous meeting during the busy red-carpet season ahead of South African Fashion Week saw premier South African fashion designer Gert-Johan Coetzee create bespoke looks for Dr. Mathew Knowles and his wife Gena Knowles to wow the media at three separate events in a week.

The couple was in South Africa to promote Knowles’s new book The Emancipation of Slaves Through Music. The influential music mogul, who is also Beyoncé’s father, hosted the African Leaders 4 Change Awards in the capital city of Pretoria last Thursday and was a guest judge on the music talent show Idols, South Africa. In between, he also managed to address the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business and finally, attend the glamorous opening party for South African Fashion Week.

“My wife Gena and I will be wearing some surprise designs by Gert, one of your top designers here in South Africa,” Knowles said in an Instagram video (@gertjohancoetzee) before the SA Fashion Week red carpet on Monday. The couple had asked Coetzee for some African-inspired styles, and the designer pulled out all the stops, creating a matching suit and gown in shades of magenta, green and brown, with embellished leaf detail that grabbed media attention for all the right reasons. It was pure Afro-chic, the Gert-Johan Coetzee way.

Celebrity favorite Coetzee, who is known as South Africa’s designer to the stars, made his name dressing South Africa’s A-list, from Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel Peters to Minnie Dlamini and Bonang Matheba, over a ten-year career. He has also extended his reach into Africa, with celebrity clients such as Tiwa Savage and Toke Makinwa, and has dressed international megastars such as Grammy winner Fantasia, Kelly Rowland, and Kourtney Kardashian.

Coetzee is coincidentally launching his new men’s range this week at SA Fashion Week, alongside ready-to-wear womenswear and the red-carpet showstoppers that he is famous for. “Menswear requires a totally different focus, so it was great timing because we now have that infrastructure in place.” He dressed Knowles in a two-tone navy and French navy suit with matching Gert-Johan Coetzee shirt and bowtie for his hosting engagement. Gena Knowles sparkled in a form-fitting off-the-shoulder floor-length scarlet gown studded with Swarovski crystals and with a high slit. “As aspect that I love about my job is how a gown can accentuate the wearer’s best features, such as great legs or toned arms. I really enjoyed working with Gena to create a dress she felt great in,” said Coetzee.

For his guest-judge duties on Idols, South Africa on Sunday Knowles appeared on stage in another, moss-green Gert-Johan Coetzee suit with a casual open-neck shirt.

This might well be the start of a relationship full of potential, but Coetzee would not be drawn on details. “It was such an honor to be asked to dress the Knowleses, and we had a wonderful time getting to know them,” he said.

Coetzee’s new Autumn Winter 2019 collection will be showcased at SA Fashion Week on Thursday 25 October at 20:00, and fans can watch live updates on Instagram, @gertjohancoetzee.

How To Maintain A Young-Looking Face | Expert Tips

We all want to look as youthful as possible for as long as possible. We spend money on creams, facials, fillers, and even sometimes plastic surgery. To get some tips for how we can maintain a young-looking face, we went to several great beauty professionals including Dr. Kirk Brandow, founder and director of the Brandow Clinic for Cosmetic Surgery in Philadelphia, who has appeared on national programs such as Good Morning America and 20/20. Here’s what they all have to say.

 Featured Photo from Instyle.com

  1. Get rest.

There absolutely is such a thing as beauty sleep. “Women come to my practice thinking they need an eye-job or a facelift when all they need is sleep. Sleep is a time when we rejuvenate ourselves and cellular turnover is at its height. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep nightly will make a huge difference in how youthful a woman appears especially as she approaches age 30 and collagen production decreases,” says Dr. Brandow. “A woman can speed up aging if they are constantly sleep deprived.”

  1. Use an overnight treatment.

If you suffer from breakouts or skin dryness leading to wrinkles or blotches, treating your skin concerns at night, is a way to maintain a youthful glow. “Work closely with your dermatologist or aesthetician who can recommend non-irritating skin treatments specifically addressing your concern,” advises Dr. Brandow. You want to take advantage of overnight options available to boost collagen and heal skin while sleeping.

  1. Hydrate

When it comes to anti-aging and putting your most youthful face forward, water is key. Water flushes your system of toxins which helps skin to glow. “Women spend a lot of money on topical creams formulated to boost moisture and hydrate the skin yet, if they integrated more water, even 4, 8 ounce glasses per day, they would see fewer wrinkles and an overall smoother younger skin texture within a month,” says Dr. Adriane Pompa, Miami based board certified dermatologist who specializes in aging skin.

  1. Be smart about fillers.

Fillers are used to add volume that diminishes as we age but people have taken it to extremes. There have been many advancements with fillers over the past 5 years offering more options and more sophisticated ways to administer them to achieve a youthful look.

According to Dr. Brandow, many patients believe that filling their cheeks will soften their laugh lines, so they push doctors to administer two to four syringes in their cheek bones and cheek area at once. This can result in swelling and doesn’t necessarily lift their face. Fillers are often done as an alternative to a face lift but, if not spread out over several weeks, it just gives the patient an unnatural look that distorts their face and makes them look odd.

“My personal preference is to perform the fillers sequentially. For example, I will use one syringe of filler in multiple locations. Then I’ll have patients return in 4-6 weeks and perhaps do another syringe to the same places, or different places, giving them an overall natural look. This leads to a softer, more natural result. The key to doing fillers well are going with small amounts every 4-6 weeks,” explains Dr. Brandow.

  1. Get facials.

According to Dr. Adriane Pompa, one facial per month does wonders for skin’s clarity, texture, and ability to produce collagen. “There are many at-home facials available one can do weekly. The key is knowing your skin type and ingredients that address your specific skin concern. Also, you can treat different parts of the face differently depending on skin issue. Let’s say you are prone to breakouts on your jawline, have wrinkles on your forehead and dryness on the cheeks, your dermatologist or aesthetician can recommend a facial plan customized for you.”

  1. Consider lasers and light!

Lasers are another tool that blasts away acne scars, evidence of past sun damage and evens out skin giving that flawless, youthful glow. There have been so many advancements with lasers resulting in more immediate results without downtime. Lasers typically cost between $600 – $1200 per treatment depending on the city and type of laser. The advantage with lasers is accuracy. You can treat a specific area without affecting the rest of the surrounding skin.

  1. Tone down your make-up.

One way to immediately take 10 years off your look is to revamp your make-up. Consider hiring a professional make-up artist who can teach you how to enhance and even modernize your look. New York make-up artist, Carlo Geraci, who was protégé to Trish McEvoy and Kevin Aucion, explains that a lot of women are doing their make-up the same way they did 20 years ago. That bronzer that you loved in the 90’s when you were 24 may appear harsh and outdated at 44. “Heavy eye liner and strong lip colors may only accentuate wrinkles and fine lines. As women age, less is more when it comes to make-up. Opt for a great hydrating foundation or a touch of concealer, a pinch of blush, a swipe of mascara or a gray or brown eyeliner and a natural looking lip liner topped with a tinted hydrating balm,” he suggests.

Caress Forever Collection and Tonya Reiman – Dating Tips

As a Caress Fabulista, I wanted to share some fun facts and tips on body language, fragrance, and touch!

Whether it be in your professional life or landing that second date with Mr. Right- the Caress Forever Collection’s mission statement is to help women leave a lasting impression. For the most detailed explanation, visit www.Dating9.com and learn how to read women if they care about you, and how to make them.

Fragrance, touch, and body language have been proven to be the most valuable when making a first impression. To understand how to be unforgettable, Caress teamed up with body language expert, Tonya Reiman. Tonya, along with interesting survey results, has helped shed the light on the subject.

Tony Reiman

Here’s the truth about dating in today’s world:

  • Online dating isn’t just accepted – it’s widely embraced. Two in five Americans use dating sites and apps. (Most using two or more sites.)

  • Online interactions aren’t enough to seal the deal – more than half of men say in person non-verbal cues are what make a woman unforgettable.

  • Chemical romance is real – Nearly 6 in 10 men find their significant other desirable because of their soft touch or irresistible scent.

  • Nearly half of men are more likely to remember a woman’s scent or touch than her name.

  • Second-date deal breakers include a lack of physical chemistry (59 percent), non-verbal signals that show a lack of interest (42 percent), or an undesirable scent or fragrance (35 percent).

Taking the facts above and Tonya’s tips below, women are now able to use the power of non-verbal communication (including using the touch technology in the new Caress Forever Collection) to their benefit in dating and in their everyday life.

Tips to Leave a Lasting Impression:

Touch + scent = unforgettable. Leaving a lasting impression goes way beyond physical appearance; what matters is physical interaction and fragrance. According to a recent survey, nearly half of men are more likely to remember a woman’s scent or touch than her name. Why? A touch forms bonds, commitment and intimacy, while scent triggers feelings and memories. Find a way to incorporate a natural touch; that instant connection is electric and makes an indelible memory.

o Bonus, if you’re wearing Caress® Love Forever™ Body Wash, it will release a burst of perfume upon touch to truly captivate the person you’re meeting.

Beam with confidence. Show you’re comfortable in your own skin – stand tall, make sure hands are turned down (hands turned up are a submissive sign), make eye contact and dress in something that makes you feel good. You will radiate and be irresistible.

Play it coy. When you really want to reel your date in, don’t give it all away. Maintain an air of mystery by slightly embellishing the busyness of your life and leaving some questions unanswered. It will leave your date wanting more.

Talk without words. The average person takes in more signs than they realize, so if you’re looking to show someone you’re interested, lean in while you’re talking, point your feet toward the other person and nod while they speak to let them know you’re listening. Even the way tilt of your head speaks volumes – a tilt to the right signals you’re trustworthy (perfect for a job interview), while the left makes you more attractive (try it on a date). Want to take it one step further? A soft touch to your heart and exposure of your neck are sure to send a message of sensuality.

About the New Caress Forever Collection:

The Caress Forever Collection is the world’s first body wash with Fragrance Touch Technology. The breakthrough technology of Caress Fragrance Release Pearls™ releases bursts of perfume with every touch of your skin. The collection combines sensual floral notes to create a fine fragrance for up to 12 hours.
