August was National Coffee Month andpeople everywhere celebrated this delicious beverage. I’m an avid coffee drinker and brew a pot daily. Some people like to enjoy a cup of tea but there’s a few tricks to brewing coffee at home.
I like to use filtered water for the best results; add hazelnut (or vanilla) syrup along with creamer and sugar. If you’re monitoring your sugar intake, substitute with a sweetener. Take your coffee up a notch by adding whipped cream and cinnamon. As a hobby, my mom and I like to purchase flavored coffee beans such French Roast, Pumpkin, or Caramel Pecan. It’s fun to taste the various spices and scents!
Also, the best place to store a bag of coffee is in a cool, airtight container to ensure the flavor’s not lost. Last Sunday, I had the chance to share coffee, espresso, and tea brewing products on WBAL TV Baltimore. I am always enthusiastic about discussing fashion, parent, or home products.

I had a great time visiting WBAL – TV Baltimore and hope the items (shown) will encourage my audience to enjoy brewing products at home.
The month of March has been very busy for Style + Life + Fashion. Aside from sharing great information for readers, I have hosted three lifestyle segments on WBAFF Fox 45 News Station.
The segment topics were: Ultimate Sick Day Survival Kit, St. Patrick’s Day Green Kitchen Products, and Easter Brunch Quick Recipes. I always enjoy hosting lifestyle segments because it allows me to share new products and information with viewers in the Baltimore area.
Most importantly, Style + Life + Fashion’s an extension of me but the (primary) focus is my audience!
I was invited to host a lifestyle segment on Fox 45 Baltimore WBFF sharing the benefits of drinking tea in the winter months. Brewing a cup of tea can serve as an aid with weight loss, stress relief, and help give a boost of energy. Also, black tea is the equivalent of drinking coffee due to a stimulating substance call theophyllin.
Although there’s a social aspect to drinking tea, we have to remember the original health benefits. Personally, I like to drink tea as a preventative measure against colds and to boost my immune system. If I’m not feeling well or have an upset stomach, I brew a cup of tea and drink it in the afternoon (or before bedtime) to flush away the toxins. Below are additional health benefits:
Last week I hosted a lifestyle segment on Let’s Talk Live DC, sharing tips on eco – friendly home essentials. The products discussed where Zabada Cleaning Products, Coyuchi Bedding and Linens, Soni Clean VT Vacuum, Rowenta Iron, and TFal Cooking Pan.
Having an eco – friendly home is very important because it helps to eliminate harmful chemicals in the air and the use of excess energy. How many times have we started cleaning our homes (with bleach) and began to feel queasy? That’s because this is actually a chemical that we’re inhaling and also putting in the environment.
Additional Cleaning Tips: we also use simple products purchased at the grocery store –
Baking Soda – Cleans, Deodorizes, and Softens Water
Lemons – Helps with Household Bacteria
White Vinegar – Cuts Grease, Removes Mildew, and Stains
Cornstarch – Cleans Windows, Polish Furniture, Shampoo Carpets and Rugs
Summer’s finally in full swing and that means we’re attending several outdoor parties. With that being said, we are also enjoying barbecue chicken, pasta salad, and other food items that can give us summer calories.
Luckily, I was able to share a few healthy eating tips on Fox 45 News, compliments of bistroMD.com

Smart tips for summer grilling, courtesy of bistroMD
“Use spices and herbs for seasonings instead of pre-made marinades/sauces which enables the cook to control sugar and sodium.
Season freshly chopped veggies with seasonings of your choice and toss in a bit of olive oil. Then wrap the veggies into a foil pouch. Place pouch on top grill rack while meat is grilling and flip occasionally. This times your meat and your veggies to complete at the same time.
Grill sliced pineapple and serve warm over Greek yogurt for dessert.
Use leftover grilled veggies the next day on a salad or as a homemade pizza topper, or use them with your leftover grilled chicken or steak for fajitas.”
At home, I had the opportunity to grill a few sliced pineapple and served over greek yogurt and it tastes delicious. I am actually planning to incorporate grilled fruits and veggies in my personal summer menu because it’s a time saver and super healthy (win-win situation.)
In a bowl combine all ingredients except pineapple, yogurt, and Flax/Chia blend
Marinate pineapple slices in mixture for 15 minutes
Grill pineapple on each side for 2 minutes
Remove from heat
Serve warm over Greek yogurt, sprinkled with Flax/Chia seeds
Overall, I had a wonderful time hosting the morning news segment and even learned a new recipe that I can use at home. As a prior nutrition teacher, this was right on target and also fun to discuss.
Don’t forget to try these tips and eat healthy this summer!
With the summer season around the corner, we are all looking to shed a few pounds. Not to the point that we are unhealthy, but in a fashion that will allow us to feel comfortable in our favorite maxi dress.
Last week I was asked to host a segment at Fox 45 News discussing “how to easily trim calories to kick – start a healthy and fit beach season.” This was the perfect opportunity for me because I am actively working (or trying…smile) to be fit and trim for the summer season. But most importantly, we don’t realize the number of calories we consume daily through beverages such as iced coffee, carbonated sodas, and energy drinks.

The healthy alternative products shared were Real Beanz, Sparkling Ice, and Celsuis. All of the beverages are infused with vitamins which are great when we need an extra boost of energy. Personally, I enjoyed testing all of the products but my favorite was the flavored Sparkling Ice.
The segment was very informative and made us aware of small areas that we can cut a few calories. It also helped to motivate viewers while on their weight loss journey.
I was asked to visit NBC’s WBAL to talk about the lifestyle brand CureDiva.comThis project was close to my heart because of the number of women (we know and love) who have had to undergo cancer. Often times when they’re in this situation, they are facing several physical battles such as hot flashes, weakening nails, or hair loss. CureDiva.com is platform for women to not only wear fashionable accessories before, during, and after their treatment but it’s also a community for women to discuss issues that are centered around the illness.
The products I featured where the Acquarella Nail System, Travel Purse with Ice Pack, and a Fancy Hands Fan. Each product serves a purpose, for example the Travel Purse Ice Pack helps women with hot flashes (as a mini cooler.)
In addition to sharing the products with local viewers, I decided to wear the color pink to support the brand.
