Pinterest Launches AR Try-On For Eyeshadow

It’s not as easy to shop in-store and try on make-up these days, but Pinterest is introducing the next best thing. The visual discovery app launched AR Try On for eyeshadow, so you can browse eyeshadow shades, try on, and purchase in-stock products based on what works for your skin tone.

Without skin smoothing or image altering effects, Try On shows you authentic results. It’s called augmented reality, but it’s really more actual reality. AR Try On for eyeshadow is also integrated with skin tone ranges, so Pinners can filter results by makeup that best matches their skin tone, and a feature will also show inspirational looks with similar shades so you can see how the colors appears on others.

With AR Try On for eyeshadow, powered by Lens, Pinners can tap into visual search and AR technology to try on and shop beauty products right from the camera on their phone. Simply click the camera icon in search and start browsing different shades of eyeshadow, try on in-stock shades, and purchase. With existing AR Try On for lipstick, Pinners can toggle between lip and eyeshadow looks. The virtual eyeshadow experience is now live across more than 4,000 shoppable shades from brands including Lancome, YSL, Urban Decay, and NYX Cosmetics.

The addition of these AR capabilities allows Pinners to tap into a growing desire to experiment with their makeup looks. Over the last year, Pinterest has seen searches* grow for out of the box makeup looks including pastel eyeshadow (12x), crazy eyeshadow (4x), sunset eyeshadow (4x) and butterfly eyeshadow (2x).

This is just the latest AR offering from Pinterest, which launched AR Try On for lipstick last year. With the addition of AR Try On for eyeshadow, Pinners can now toggle between lipstick and eyeshadow looks until they find the look that works best. You can also send products to friends via text, email or various social apps for them to try on the product!

To access the Try On for eyeshadow feature:

  • Open the Pinterest app and click the camera icon in search
  • Scroll different shades and watch as they appear on your face (no skin altering or smoothing effects in place!)
  • Click a product to purchase on the retailer’s site

This is the latest update to make it easy to shop the latest trends on Pinterest.

According to a recent story on Glossy.co, “the pandemic has ‘accelerated’ adoption of virtual try-on techniques…leading to a 32% increase in use of makeup try-on…” Pinterest is joining company’s including YouCam, SnapChat and Google, all who are adding these AR try on features for ease of shopping.

YouCam Makeup just released its first-ever 3D AR Halloween costume collection so users can now try out hyper-realistic Halloween beauty looks right at home. 32nd Annual Southern Women’s Show Recap – Girls Day Out

Attending the 32nd Annual Southern Women’s Show is a local tradition in the Birmingham metro area. Participants have the opportunity to view exhibits and purchase a variety of products from aromatherapy, fashion accessories, and home decor.

It’s considered to be the official Girls Day Out with live entertainment and delicious treats.  This was my first year taking part in the event and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

Vendors at The Southern Women’s Show were pleasant and very knowledgable in terms of selling their products. For example, I received a presentation from the doTerra Representative describing the use of essentials oils.  doTerra’s different from most essential oil companies because they provide the highest quality oils. Yes, I am a lover of fashion but also an advocate of health and wellness. doTerra’s wellness presentation (essential oils 101) was a treat!

In addition, the exhibit provided cooking demonstrations from Alabama Gulf Seafood and ProFashion offered professional hair styling tips.  Belk encouraged participants to stop by their booth for a make-over with the use of cosmetics from Bobbi Brown and Clinique.  I had a really good time testing the new fragrance gift sets.

The SpotLight Stage (on Thursday) included Step by Step Painting Old Furniture, Beige and Black with LANCOME, and the Unclaimed Baggage Experience.  In my opinion, I give The Southern Women’s Show a thumbs up and encourage anyone in the area to purchase  a ticket next year.  You might see me there!

Michael Kors Faux Wrap Dress – Classic Style

Last week I shared my personal shopping experience at Macys in Annapolis Mall. Let me start by saying, everyone should explore this service!  It’s easy to book and makes your shopping experience a little more pleasant.  After chit chatting with Teresa and discussing upcoming fall trends (I’m still thinking about those pumps) I entered into the dressing room with several delightful items.  She selected a range of garments to suit my lifestyle from jeans, handbags, sunglasses, skirts, and suits.

The one item that captured my heart was a gorgeous wrap dress designed from The MICHAEL, Michael Kors Collection.  I didn’t select the dress because of the brand; but the style was more important.  This High and Low, Faux Wrap Dress complimented my figure and curves.  One thing I’ve shared on this site is that I’m petite and curvy (like the other Kim West) so I’m very meticulous about my style needs.

The fabric texture also felt great on my skin and silhouette’s classy (and sexy.)  Ultimately, I was very pleased with the garment.  I also have the perfect pair of pumps to wear with this dress for definition, height, and movement.

In addition to selecting the dress, I also picked up a pair of rose gold earrings and skin care products from the Lancome counter. Overall, it was a great day to be a girl and play around in fashion!
