Overcoming Previous Beauty Mistakes: Dress Disasters and Skincare Rescue

When you look back at old pictures of yourself online, you cringe at your outfit choices, hairstyles, and condition of your skin. You never want to return back to that place of bad fashion sense and awful hair choices. You’re still trying the get the best skin you possibly can, but you realize this can take a lot of time. You have to have a sense of humor about the fashion faux pas you made in the past; growing into your own style is all about the learning curve you experience along the way. Instead of beating yourself up about it, put on a smile and look ahead to a better and more beautiful style.

Dress Disasters

Perhaps you look back at your prom pictures and wish you had picked a better-colored dress for your skin tone or you feel ashamed at what you wore for your 18th birthday party. You don’t have to have this fear anymore, you just need to look in the right place for dresses to suit your style. If you click here you will find a whole range of dresses that will suit any occasion you need to attend. No more blushing or embarrassing memories for you!

Skin SOS

When you were a teenager you suffered from pretty bad skin and you are still trying to combat the zits to this day. Changing up your skincare regime will do wonders for your confidence and will also prevent you from making those same beauty mistakes all over again. Try not to layer your skin with too much makeup in order to cover a blemish; you will actually be drawing more attention to it if you do this. Don’t touch, pick or squeeze the pesky thing, simply apply a calming treatment and let it go down naturally.

Hair Help

You are guilty of dying your hair with bleach when you were younger and it’s never quite recovered. Visit your local hairdresser for a Keratin or Olaplex treatment which will restore the natural strength of your hair very quickly.

Body Blunders

When you see yourself in pictures you are pretty ashamed of certain parts of your body, although you shouldn’t be at all, you might want to take action and make yourself feel better. You can exercise without even realizing it, whether you’re dancing in a Zumba class or rollerblading with your friends, you will soon feel more body confident.

Whether you need to smarten up your sense of style or work on your body insecurities, you can start to leave your beauty blunders in the past. Wanting to work on your fashion and update your look will do wonders for your confidence in the long run, so don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone once in a while. Fashion is ever changing for a reason, so something you love today might seem like an outrageous choice in a couple of months. As long as you are wearing something that makes you feel chic, sophisticated and confident you will never have to worry about your style choices again.

Get the Look: bareMinerals and Letitia Wright 2018 Emmy Awards

Celebrity Makeup Artist Tasha Brown worked with bareMinerals Power of Good Ambassador, actress Letitia Wright for the 2018 Emmy Awards – below is a breakdown of the look!

Who: Letitia Wright at the 2018 Emmy Awards
The Look:
Inspiration: Letitia’s gorgeous gown featured great shine and texture which immediately inspired Celebrity Makeup Artist Tasha Brown to give Letitia peachy and bronze tones to keep her looking ethereal to match her dress. Tasha added soft, arched brows and golden eyeshadow with a natural skin finish added glowing shimmery highlights on the cheekbones and eyelids.
How to Get the Look:
Skin
Tasha prepped Letitia’s skin by saturating her cleansed face with bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Defense to create a smooth moisturized canvas for makeup. She then applied bareMinerals Original Loose Powder Foundation with SPF 15 in shade Golden Dark with the bareMinerals Beautiful Finish Foundation Brush in a tapping motion through the center of Letitia’s face for light coverage, creating an even base for the rest of her makeup.
Cheeks
Tasha used a sheer layer of bareMinerals BarePRO Glow Highlighter in Fierce to highlight the tops of Letitia’s cheekbones, a center of nose and chin for a bit of glow and dimension. To add a healthy flush of color, Tasha lightly dusted bareMinerals’ Gen Nude Powder Blush in That Peach Tho along the hairline, on temples and on cheeks with a large fluffy brush.
Eyes
Tasha applied the deep bronze tones of the bareMinerals Gen Nude Eyeshadow Palette in Neutral all over the eyelid to better complement the color of Leticia’s gown.
Lips
Tasha finished off the lips without a liner for a softer edge to the lips and applied bareMinerals Gen Nude Lip Lacquer Buttercream Lipgloss in Flirt for a soft nude peach with a sheen to match the sheen of the gown.
Where to Find Them:
bareMinerals products are available at bareMinerals boutiques and bareMinerals.com. Also available at Sephora, Sephora inside JCPenny, ULTA, Macy’s, Dillards, fine spas and salons. Visit bareminerals.com for store locations.

1. How did the idea for your beauty business develop?

Since a little girl (even in my tomboy phase) I have always loved all things beauty. From hair & makeup to fashion. As a little girl, I was always the one doing my friend and family’s hair & makeup coordinating “fashion shows” at family gatherings, and trying to switch my hair up at any given moment! So stemming from a genuine love for it from a child, made it that much easier to really get my business going, because it was more than just another way of generating income, it was a passion. And I stand firm on “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life”. It started with my hair extensions, and is currently expanding into cosmetics, and clothing! “Xo by Kamiah Adams” is a brand within itself, and in that brand, you’ll find “xo hair, “xo cosmetics” “xo fashion” …. & so on.

2. What motivated you to become an entrepreneur?

I’ve never been a fan of being told what to do! So just the thought of being able to do what I want, how I want, when I want, on my terms, without having someone to “answer to” was all the motivation I needed!! And just having the freedom to be able to be my creative self and have no limitations on it was such a gratifying thought I couldn’t picture it any other way.

3. What are your goals for XO by Kamiah Adams Hair Extensions Collection?

My plans for “xo by Kamiah Adams” I stated before go far and beyond just hair extensions, so I’ll answer for the brand in itself. My goals are to continue to build an empire, never limiting myself, and stopping at nothing. I want to provide the best, for the best! And I plan to continue doing so while providing the best product, at a price that can’t be beaten! Again, my main objective at the end of the day is to satisfy all of my supporters, genuinely, without breaking the bank, and leaving them feeling amazing about themselves!

4. From the perspective of being a mother and entrepreneur, who is your role model and why?

My mother! Hands down, my mom is the hardest worker I know! She and my Granny (who is no longer with us) have molded me into the woman I am today! My grandmother was a woman who never accepted “No!” And always worked for everything she wanted while providing for her family. And my mom, I don’t even know where to start, she is the true definition of a go-getter! Working full time, traveling for work all the time, raising a family, and still managing to be an amazing mom and wife and making us always feel supported and loved. I feel if I’m able to be even HALF the woman/mom she was, ill be just fine! My superwomen!

5. Where can we go to learn more?

Tips for Repairing Summer Skin Damage from Board-Certified Cosmetic Dermatologist Dr. Kenneth Mark

Board-certified cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Kenneth Mark is sharing his tips for repairing summer skin damage so you can look and feel your best come the fall:

Featured Photo from Glamour

  1. Identify the Damage: The sun can wreak havoc on your skin leading to sun spots, blotchy pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles as well as clogged pores.  All of these things can lead to a dull, less toned, and less radiant complexion making it imperative to isolate the problem.

  1. Begin with a Fresh Face: Cleansing your face helps to prepare the canvas, making it easier to penetrate beneficiary anti-aging ingredients. Dr. Mark recommends his one step process All-In-One Cleanser, which effectively and safely cleanses and tightens, leaving the skin feeling refreshed.

  1. Use Exfoliants: Exfoliants help unclog pores, smooth the skin, fade blemishes, and send signals to the dermis to produce collagen. Dr. Mark’s Moisture Cure and Exfoliating and Hydrating Mask contain natural and plant-sourced alpha hydroxyl acids that assist with this process.

  1. Incorporate Antioxidants into your Regimen: Antioxidants produce new collagen and sift free radicals.  Dr. Mark’s Antioxidant Boost contains Astaxanthin – “nature’s most potent antioxidant,” which is up to 1000-times stronger than Vitamin C, Green Tea, and Vitamin E, helping to firm sun damage caused by the sun.

  1. Protect Your Eyes: One of the most delicate areas of the skin for damage is the eye area.  The sun, wind, and squinting can cause wrinkles and irritation. Dr. Mark’s Tighten and Lighten Eye Cream has a unique combination of key ingredients that not only treats the contour of the eye, it also safely lifts the fold of the upper eyelid.

THE LOOK: ALL STARS Gearing Up For The Second Season

DreamVenture Productions announces the successful run of the pilot season and return of the makeover TV series THE LOOK: ALL STARS for a second season. The one-hour reality series aired on CW, MyNetwork and TBD stations of SINCLAIR Broadcast Group and has received positive feedback from the industry and consumers at large. “We are extremely pleased and excited to continue our collaboration with THE LOOK: ALL-STARS as the initial results were extremely positive, showing ratings double from lead-in programs for select markets in the time slots assigned,” says Rida Khan, Head of Fashion, Lifestyle and Entertainment Programming, SBG.

The series successfully integrated augmented reality makeover try-ons in real time, so the audience watching at home could try on the looks and discover beauty products used on the show. More than 2 million try-ons for every episode were generated through the Perfect365 app from their 15 million users. This unique collaboration is a first of its kind for a national broadcast TV show.

The executive producers of the show are gearing up for filming, slated to commence this fall, with the support of the beauty and fashion industries. Two hairstyling icons from the TV series presented onstage to promote the show and ramp up excitement within the elite hairstyling community at the North American Hairstyling Awards 2018, the most prestigious photographic professional hairstyling awards, attended by over 4,000 stylists. As a result of a special collaboration, select NAHA 2018 applicants will be featured in the second season as part of the talented cast. The TV series also held auditions and met with members of the beauty industry at COSMOPROF NORTH AMERICA, the largest B2B exhibition for the cosmetics industry. “As the most important beauty exhibition platform in the US at the moment, Cosmoprof North America always seeks to bring resources that can help build the business of indie companies in attendance. The TV series provides great national visibility for brands trying to connect with consumers in a different way,” stated Daniela Ciocan, marketing director and the brains behind Cosmoprof’s phenomenal growth in the last 12 years.
