Update Your Spring 2021 Wardrobe with These Essentials

It’s not that much longer now – spring is upon us and with that comes a rise in temperatures and the inevitable change of the wardrobe. Those heavy layers are no longer needed, and you may be looking for ways to integrate some lovely spring colours into your look. So, before you hit the shops and pick up some new items, here’s a look at what will be hot and trending in terms of a spring 2021 wardrobe.

Embrace Spring Dresses

One of the hottest trends for spring 2021 is spring dresses in all styles, colours, prints, and lengths. What this means is that you have a lot of freedom to choose the ones that speak to you. Dresses with full skirts are particularly hot for spring so you can keep your eyes open for that style.

If it’s still a bit chilly to break out your new spring dress, try layering a cardigan or blazer on top and wear a pair of tall boots rather than more traditional warm weather shoes like sandals.

Time to Get Rid of the Skinny Jeans

If you’ve been sporting skinny jeans for the past few years, it’s time to embrace the latest denim trend which is loose denim. Look for wide legged denim that has more of a vintage and lived-in quality to it.

Beach Wear Vibes – Bring Elements of the Look into Your Wardrobe

Picture yourself sunbathing on the beach, relaxing, and enjoying the summer heat. Now it’s time to take those vibes and that beachwear style and integrate it into your spring wardrobe. This can be done with nautical prints, beach-type images and patterns, soft natural colours you’d find on the beach, and of course, casual style clothing.

Pink Is the Colour of Spring

Traditionally, there are colours that emerge for each season that prove to be trendy and, right now, pink is shaping up to be that colour for spring 2021. All shades of pink will be trending, including bright fuchsia pink that can really add a bright and youthful pop to your complexion.

It’s All About the Proper Fit

As you shop for your new spring wardrobe, the key to looking great is finding the right fit. The right fit ensures that you look put together, the garment hangs and fits as it should, and that you feel confident and comfortable. Designers are now catering to a much broader range of body sizes and shapes, which means finding your proper size has never been easier. If you’re looking for a selection of plus sized items, check out froxx.

If you prefer shopping online rather than in-person, make sure you take your body measurements to use with the website’s sizing guide. The majority of online retailers will have a sizing guide posted.

All of these wardrobe essentials will make it possible for you to step into spring with style and confidence. And what’s great is that so many of these pieces can be mixed and matched with your existing wardrobe.

Free People Baltimore Opening at Harbor East

Free People

Specialty fashion brand, Free People, is set to open its first Baltimore boutique in the growing Harbor East neighborhood on April 3, 2015. Housed in a 2,545 square-foot retail space, Free People is excited to bring its coveted eclectic mix of apparel and intimates to the development. Centrally located near the heart of Harbor East, on the corner of Aliceanna and Exeter Streets, the location will be Free People’s 105th boutique, and the fourth in the state of Maryland.

“We are very excited to be a part of the continued development of Harbor East,” says Free People Director of Retail, Beth Wehagen, “It’s one of the most exciting waterfront projects on the east coast and we are thrilled to be a part of it!”
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Free People to Harbor East,” stated Tim O’Donald, President of Harbor East Management Group. “This much touted brand is a wonderful complement to the neighborhood and to our retail offerings.”

Free People’s Baltimore boutique will be ready for spring with a sales floor of well-stocked sun dresses and cut-off shorts for warmer weather and festival season. A “wash shop” will feature Free People’s newest relaxed basics such as tees and chinos in the brand’s most turbulent dyes and faded wash techniques. The color white will have a moment, featured in every style from jeans to jackets to tanks. The remaining sales floor will be nicely juxtaposed with simplistic silhouettes in line with Free People’s clean and cool spring trends. In addition, the brand’s coveted ‘Intimately Free People’ line of bras, undies, slips, seamless layering pieces, and loungewear will have a dedicated space within the boutique to round out the assortment.

The space has been designed to feel like the Free People girl’s workshop with a mix of rugged elements and feminine details throughout. Guests are welcomed by a blackened steel storefront, custom double doors and a special lighting moment at the entry. Inside, the space is delineated with a varied ceiling that changes in height and material throughout, including reclaimed hemlock beams. Interior finishes include repurposed bead board, wide plank wood flooring, patchwork quilt curtains and glitter plaster throughout. Yarn-filled cubbies add a bright array of color behind checkout.

The boutique will celebrate on opening day, Friday, April 3, from 6-8pm. The first 50 customers will receive a tote bag giveaway, light refreshments will be served, and store stylists will be on hand to give in-store styling sessions.

Each Free People store offers personalized shopping experiences from a team of expert stylists. Customers can schedule a one-on-one appointment with their favorite stylist, as well as interact and gain inspiration through the brand’s online Style Community, FP Me. In addition to offering personal styling, fans can look forward to a variety of in-store events to be hosted at the Free People Harbor East boutique throughout the year.

Free People will be located at 1001 Aliceanna St., Suite A, Harbor East, Baltimore, MD 21202. Store hours will run Monday-Saturday 10am-9pm, and Sunday 11am-7pm.

Winter Wardrobe Shopping Tips

It’s time to go shopping for a brand new winter wardrobe. But wait, you shouldn’t just go crazy, scanning your bank card at every given opportunity. If you take that approach, you can bet you’ll end up with a load of items you didn’t really need. Not to mention no money left! Consider these things before you go shopping so you can come home with the best haul:

Things You Already Own

Do you already have winter items you can wear again this year? You may have a quality pair of boots, some jumpers, jeans, tights, and other items that you’ve had in the past that will still do this year. Obviously you want to change up your look, but it’s easy to make old items look new if you style them properly. Go through and decide which items you’d like to keep and which you’ll give to charity. Try not to be a hoarder. If you haven’t worn something in a while, get rid of it to make room for new stuff.

Transitional Summer Items

You’ve probably got summer items that you can make work for you in winter too. Skirts and shorts can be worn with tights. Vests can be worn under your jumpers or layered with cardigans. Work out what you’ll still wear this season. Get rid of the stuff you won’t wear or put it in storage for next year.

Seasonal Items

Whether you like to make the most of your current wardrobe by reusing things or not, everybody can afford to buy a few new seasonal items when shopping for their new wardrobe. This might be the season’s pair of ‘It’ boots – the thigh high style. Or it may be a cosy cowl neck jumper. Personally, I buy myself a new winter coat and a few jumpers each year. You’d never know I was wearing old jeans, tights, and skirts with them. By doing this, I’ve ended up with quite a collection of coats and jumpers. I made sure that they will last me a good few years too, so I always have a wide range of coats to choose from when I’m going out! A couple of new items will bring your wardrobe up to date. There’s just no need to go mad and buy everything you see! Click here for inspiration. If you make sure the items you buy are versatile, they’ll last a long time and go with a lot of different things.

Your Budget

If you go shopping without a budget you’re doomed from the start. You need to know how much you are able to spend on your new wardrobe so you can think of the garments that are the best value for money and purchase them accordingly. If you can, remember that less is more. Bya few items that are high quality and will last you a while, rather than lots of items that are low quality and won’t last you past this year.

Consider these things, and you’ll have a high quality wardrobe that will last you for many winters to come!
