It’s no secret that Beyonce is a fashion chameleon. This woman can look glamorous wearing a sequin bodysuit (for shows) to dressing in street style with a hipster hat on Instagram.
To pull off a combination like the one below, the secret is to find a dominate color and select additional pieces within the same color family. Personally, I like eclectic design of the first look, mixing textures and prints. Bey also made this style sexy by cinching the waist with a belt.
The second and third photo gives us a lot of style and personality with garments in the same print (top and shorts) while adding a hat for quick style. With simple accessories in our wardrobe such as hats, belts, and funky nail designs anyone can achieve this look – fashion is fun!
Let’s be honest, everyone likes to shop at Ross Dress for Less. Fashionistas can find designer labels for a discounted price and it really doesn’t get any better than that!
To jumpstart their new campaign, the brand asked shoppers to like their Facebook Page and participate in a Summer Style Quiz. The quiz was a fun addition to their campaign and I discovered that my personal summer style is the Social Butterfly. Being a Social Butterfly means I enjoy wearing maxi dresses, embellished sandals, oversized sunglasses, and large tote bags.

I had the opportunity to visit my local Ross and purchase a few pieces for my wardrobe. I was happy to see all of the Summer hues and trends for shoppers to select.

As you can see from the previous photos there’s a wonderful selection of merchandise. Fashion Awards MD is considered to be one of the premiere fashion events in the Baltimore area. Style + Life + Fashion had the opportunity to attend the event being nominated for the Fashion Media Category. I was surprised to be placed on the ballot (for a second consecutive year) because I only had plans to attend as a media source. Once I received the email confirmation I was very excited to be amongst such a talented list of bloggers.

Jaslene Gonzalez from America’s Top Model served as the host for this year’s event. She was seen wearing a beautiful red asymmetrical gown, created by local fashion designer B. Descaiwith an additional black, sequin, and green dress selected by fashion stylist Thea Washington. Jaslene looked stunning and did a wonderful job of engaging the audience.

What I love the most about attending any fashion event is the creativity and talent that’s circulating in the room. From face masks to custom design apparel, everyone came out to be seen and noticed. The evening continued with a variety of performances between the nominee categories and recognition was given to those with a flair for beauty, fashion, and the arts. In the honorary words of the Fashion Awards MD, we should strive to “Inspire and Be Inspired.”
Summer’s finally in full swing and that means we’re attending several outdoor parties. With that being said, we are also enjoying barbecue chicken, pasta salad, and other food items that can give us summer calories.

“Use spices and herbs for seasonings instead of pre-made marinades/sauces which enables the cook to control sugar and sodium.
Season freshly chopped veggies with seasonings of your choice and toss in a bit of olive oil. Then wrap the veggies into a foil pouch. Place pouch on top grill rack while meat is grilling and flip occasionally. This times your meat and your veggies to complete at the same time.
Grill sliced pineapple and serve warm over Greek yogurt for dessert.
Use leftover grilled veggies the next day on a salad or as a homemade pizza topper, or use them with your leftover grilled chicken or steak for fajitas.”
At home, I had the opportunity to grill a few sliced pineapple and served over greek yogurt and it tastes delicious. I am actually planning to incorporate grilled fruits and veggies in my personal summer menu because it’s a time saver and super healthy (win-win situation.)
In a bowl combine all ingredients except pineapple, yogurt, and Flax/Chia blend
Marinate pineapple slices in mixture for 15 minutes
Grill pineapple on each side for 2 minutes
Remove from heat
Serve warm over Greek yogurt, sprinkled with Flax/Chia seeds
Overall, I had a wonderful time hosting the morning news segment and even learned a new recipe that I can use at home. As a prior nutrition teacher, this was right on target and also fun to discuss.

Think Like A Man Too came out in theaters today and I am looking forward to seeing this movie. All of the characters are hilarious and who doesn’t love to watch Kevin Hart on the big screen.
To my surprise and excitement, Motionswas the official hair care sponsor for the movie. I was one of the lucky bloggers to receive a package filled with a plethora of new products. And honestly, every product that was sent smells heavenly and has done wonders for my tresses!
Because my hair is natural (4B texture to be exact) I have a difficult time finding quality products that hydrate and grow my hair. Although I love being a naturalista, I don’t consider myself to be a product junkie because once I find something that works, I generally stick with that item.
Since receiving the products, I have loved using them and my favorites out of the bunch are the Shine Enhancing Pomade, Deep Conditioning Masque, Define My Curls Creme, and Radiating Hair Gloss. I am a huge fan of wearing statement necklaces. The right necklace can transform an entire look and can be worn with a variety of clothing items. Fashion girls can purchase this accessory from a number of retailers either online (my personal favorite) or in a department store. No matter what’s your preference anyone can find a necklace that suits her individual style. Whether it’s a basic tee shirt or elegant dress, this fashion accessory is a wardrobe must have!
