The ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood luncheon sponsored by Ford was a star-studded and empowerment filled event full of love and tears of joy as ESSENCE honored some boss women at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
Sisterhood was on full display as some of the industry’s top leading ladies came together to celebrate the honorees including “Black Panther” star Danai Gurira, actress Tessa Thompson of “Dear White People”, “Girl’s Trip” actress, author, and comedian Tiffany Haddish, and actress, producer, and screenwriter Lena Waithe, who received the Ford Vanguard of Feminism Award.
The Ford Mustang Empowerment Corner was nothing short of motivating as fashion muva (mother) June Ambrose interviewed the stars in front of the all-new 2018 Mustang, which is the most personalized ever and offers more customization than ever before as fans can create and share Mustang art through the “Personalize Your Pony” experience on Facebook. The experience allows fans to create personalized pony art right on their Facebook pages, then use their custom designs to order prints, clothing, mugs, phone cases and even a limited-edition grille badge for their late-model Mustangs.
During Tiffany Haddish’s acceptance speech, the new author told a story about being homeless and living in her car before she hit it big and joked “I heard if you mention a car company they’ll give you a car. So, Ford, maybe I can get me a nice Ford car!” which sent the room up in laughs.
The event was nothing short of brilliant and the perfect way to celebrate the sisterhood of boss women.
Jeans have been around for over 140 years, but even along that journey there have been changes along the way. New trends bring with them styles and options that help to create a look and define an attitude. The same goes for the 2017 jean trends that will be hitting the market in the coming weeks and months.

All about the ankle. Jeans that are ankle length and have ankle detail will be a big hit in 2017. Variety will be everything on inseams ranging from 29-26; such as a step hem, curved hem, raw hem, and fray hem. A perfect opportunity to highlight your new shoes.
This is going to be huge this year. STS Blue will be debuting some trendy yet affordable ones at the beginning of the year, with more to be showcased in May and June.
Authentically Vintage Washed. People love how the 100 percent cotton gives the most authentic looking vintage wash, but it’s not the most comfortable. In 2017, look out for a super relaxed short in 100 percent cotton that is still comfortable to wear, but looks like a vintage pair of shorts.
Black is back. The color black has been a huge trend all year and will continue into 2017. STS Jeans will be offering a few cool black shorts, one with a cut out embroidered detail and one that is faded, destroyed and very lived in.
Deconstructed Boyfriend Jeans. Watch for super destroyed jeans that feature wide-open holes. These jeans will make a statement with one glance.

The official announcement of Bendet’s foray into the See-Now-Buy-Now runway follows on the heels of the CFDA’s release of the results of the Boston Consulting Group’s study of the future of New York Fashion Week on its website, www.CFDA.com, earlier this month.
Among the findings, the study revealed that there is unanimous consensus around the need for change to the decades-old Fashion Week system and the call for designers to deliver collections to consumers in a format that is rooted in in-season relevancy, both of which alice + olivia directly cites as reasoning behind the conception of the idea to host the alice + olivia See-Now-Buy-Now runway show next month.
