Katie Gallagher FW16 Collection – Veiled

About Katie Gallagher Veiled FW16
Secretive, unknown, mysterious. Black, the darkest color yet the color with no color at all, represents both full absorption and complete absence of light, evil and elegance, beginning and end, a completed cycle. Inspired by this hue that has no hue, Katie Gallagher’s FW 2016 collection, Veiled, is her second all-black collection.

Gallagher’s monochromatic collection relies heavily on textures and subtle details, featuring elements of gothic architecture, stained glass, and Harry Clarke illustrations. Recalling her initial and first all-black collection, Veil (SS 2010), Gallagher’s latest collection includes reworked pieces from SS 2010, completing her line’s cycle.

Through Veiled, Gallagher combines bold leather jackets and military-inspired trousers with delicate lace, cashmere rompers, and long slitted silk skirts. Stained glass-inspired lace textiles and hairpieces recall cathedral elements, graveyards, and old Catholic rituals. Gallagher pairs twisted seams and twill tape with velvet ribbons and zippers, defining her FW 2016 collection.

Veiled is Gallagher’s 14th collection showing during New York Fashion Week. In her past collections, she has been celebrated for her attention to detail, superior craftsmanship, and creativity. Gallagher pulls inspiration from her childhood, music and art, and her life in New York City.

“Macy’s in-store event with Nineteenth Amendment will provide shoppers with a unique hands-on Fashion Week experience that has been unheard of previously,” says Nicole Fischelis, Macy’s GVP/Fashion Director of Women’s Ready-to-Wear. “We love the idea of expanding our customers’ fashion horizons by presenting this virtual “front row” experience from some of the industry’s most exciting independent designers which, in turn, makes the celebration and appreciation of high fashion more accessible and inclusive.”

“We are thrilled to bring the runway directly to consumers with Macy’s and be on the forefront of bridging the gap between great NYFW design and shoppers. This first-of-its-kind immersive, omni-channel experience will allow shoppers to directly interact with designers, hear their stories, try on garments and own a piece of Fashion Week history, made for them in New York’s Garment District,” state Gemma Sole and Amanda Curtis, cofounders of Nineteenth Amendment.

Coach Campaign Launches with Lady Gaga’s Pup

Coach, Inc., a leading New York design house of modern luxury accessories and lifestyle collections, goes to the dogs as it reveals its newest advertising campaign. Titled “COACH PUPS,” the new campaign features canine stars in a series of portraits photographed by Steven Meisel. It launches this month with Miss Asia Kinney, the adorable four-legged companion of Lady Gaga.

The campaign celebrates the dogs in our lives and captures the pups’ unique personalities as they “model” Coach’s Fall 2015 star bags. Additional PUPS staring in the campaign will be revealed shortly.  Miss Asia Kinney, Lady Gaga’s now famous French Bulldog has amassed a substantial social media following in only a few short weeks. The Coach bags she elegantly models in the campaign are the Edie and the Rucksack.

Art directed by Fabien Baron and styled by Karl Templer, COACH PUPS will appear in print, online and on outdoor media globally starting in July.

Lady Gaga commented: “I am so proud of Miss Asia! She’s a natural in front of the camera, and we’re both so excited that the iconic Steven Meisel shot her for Coach’s pup campaign! I really love getting to watch my best friend be a star.”

Stuart Vevers, Creative Director at Coach comments, “’I’ve never had so much fun on a shoot. The combination of Mr. Meisel and the pups was an extraordinary, surreal, special moment. We wanted to create playful images that make you smile. We were inspired by some images from the Coach archive, which featured Eddie—the dog that starred in the TV series Frasier—to create something joyful, with humor and character. That’s a spirit that’s uniquely at the heart of Coach.”

This new initiative will also introduce the social campaign #coachpups, including a range of online activities for fellow dog fanciers, opportunities for Instameets, special talks and other events hosted by the great and the good of the canine world. This will also mark the debut of the Coach Snapchat account.

Coach has made a donation to Chicago French Bulldog Rescue (frenchieporvous.org) on behalf of Miss Asia Kinney and her devoted owner.
