Katie Gallagher SS17 Lookbook – NYFW16 RECAP

About Katie Gallagher – Eclipse SS17
Secretive, unknown, mysterious, Black, the darkest color yet the color with no color at all, represents both full absorption and complete absence of light, evil and elegance. Constantly inspired by this hue that has no hue, Katie Gallagher’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Eclipse, is her third all-black collection, followed by last season’s all black collection, Veiled and her initial collection, S/S 2010, Veil.
Gallagher’s current monochromatic collection relies on textures and subtle details, highlighting her obsessions with gothic architecture, Harry Clarke illustrations and traditional Catholic rituals and symbols. She complements these heavy themes with lightweight fabrics and whimsical embroidery.
Through Eclipse, Gallagher combines Swiss Dot sheer jackets with delicate lace and pony fur, English tulle skirts and tops feature embroidered hearts, dots and crosses. Gallagher pairs gathered, twisted seams with grosgrain ribbons and silver zippers, defining her SS17 collection.

Tracy Reese NYFW SS’17 Presentation and Cantu Beauty

Cantu debuted at their very first NYFW show this afternoon for Tracy Reese’s SS’17 presentation. The show featured a mix of models paired with inspirational and noteworthy, real women such as Bethann Hardison and Sasheer Zamata. Using Cantu products, lead stylist Bok-Hee created an ethereal, whimsical half-up messy bun on models, while utilizing the natural textures of each the real women to embrace their own style!

Hair How To: Model Look

Hairstylist: Bok-Hee for Cantu

  1. Starting with the natural hair texture, work through a small amount of Cantu Wave Whip Curling Mousse($5.99, Target.com) to define natural wave pattern
  2. Take a large section from the sides, top and crown area and loosely pull into messy half bun, using an elastic to secure it in place. Make sure to leave a few wispy pieces falling naturally along the sides of the face back through the nape of the neck.
  3. Gently tug on hair that is pulled back to add slight imperfections, then loosely pin the bun to head.
  4. Spritz Cantu Coil Calm Detangler ($4.97, Walmart.com) to loosen and define texture of hair that is not in the knot
  5. Finish off the look with a few  sprigs of baby’s breathe or jeweled barrette

Fall 2013 Fashion Designer Trends and Collections Part II

Below are photos that provide inspiration for Fall 2013, when we consider building our wardrobe.  Based upon my previous post, “Fall 2013 Beauty Trends and Accessories” I like to stay abreast of what’s current and new as it relates to fashion, beauty, and style.

My motivation behind this post series (or more so incorporating a trends element to this blog) steams from my family and friends asking what’s popular for the upcoming season.  The people in my life acknowledge that this is my passion and therefore come to me for wardrobe advice.

Therefore, this particular write – up centers around designer trends (for the fall) that have graced the runway last Spring.   I decided to compile a few looks and hopefully they will  help “spruce” up a few items you already own.  And don’t forget, it’s always great to find inspiration but learn to make every look your own!
