Colors of Life Show by Mimi Tran: NYFW 2016

There have been a lot of creative master pieces and gorgeous collections to grace the runway, including last nights ‘Colors of Life’ show by Mimi Tran, at the Angel Orensanz Foundation. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of Mimi’s breathtaking bridal gown, after an exquisite line up of ready to wear pieces and formal gowns. Her collection included bright reds, pinks and turquoise’s all inspired by her 13 year old daughter. The formal wear is perfect for the red carpet, proms, and even weddings (either as the bride or a guest) – the lace details and trims will leave you looking stunning no matter where you go, and for a little extra sparkle flower details are the new sequins in this collection.

ABOUT MIMI TRAN:

Born in Vietnam, Mimi Tran relocated to Paris at the age of seven where she eventually attended boarding school and was recognized as a gifted child in free style art. At 14, her family moved to the United States where she later graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and began her career at Cisco. She earned an MBA in International Business Management from Santa Clara University, but her artistic side kept pulling her toward a means of creative expression. That calling consequently led her to found her own line in 2013 with form-fitting cocktail dresses that sculpted the body and accentuated feminine curves before she finally embraced the red carpet-ready glamour of evening gowns. Today she is based in San Francisco but is sold worldwide in specialty boutiques and stores. The showing of her “Colors of Life” Collection is her fourth and highly anticipated participation at New York Fashion Week and is of particular significance as she continues to explore the limitless possibilities of the Mimi Tran brand.

Katie Gallagher SS17 Lookbook – NYFW16 RECAP

About Katie Gallagher – Eclipse SS17
Secretive, unknown, mysterious, Black, the darkest color yet the color with no color at all, represents both full absorption and complete absence of light, evil and elegance. Constantly inspired by this hue that has no hue, Katie Gallagher’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Eclipse, is her third all-black collection, followed by last season’s all black collection, Veiled and her initial collection, S/S 2010, Veil.
Gallagher’s current monochromatic collection relies on textures and subtle details, highlighting her obsessions with gothic architecture, Harry Clarke illustrations and traditional Catholic rituals and symbols. She complements these heavy themes with lightweight fabrics and whimsical embroidery.
Through Eclipse, Gallagher combines Swiss Dot sheer jackets with delicate lace and pony fur, English tulle skirts and tops feature embroidered hearts, dots and crosses. Gallagher pairs gathered, twisted seams with grosgrain ribbons and silver zippers, defining her SS17 collection.
