Maison-De-Mode.Com & Perrier-Jouët Celebrate Sustainable Style By Honoring Suzy Amis Cameron

Suzy Amis Cameron, the founder of the ethical fashion initiative Red Carpet Green Dress (RCGD), was honored last night by MAISON-DE-MODE.COM at the first annual gala at the “Celebrate Sustainable Style” event held at The Sunset Tower. Many celebrities and industry executives came out to support Amis Cameron including her husband director James Cameron, Amanda Hearst, Hassan Pierre, Elon Musk, Maye Musk, Paris Hilton & Chris Zylka, Angela Bassett, Nadja Swarovski, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Zac Posen, Lydia Hearst & Chris Hardwick, Madelaine Petsch, Nathan Jendens, Ginta Lapina, Kathy Hilton, Rick Hilton, Anne Hearst McInerney, Priyanka Bose, and many more.

During the two hour event, one-of-a-kind sustainable gowns were created by top designers Vivienne Westwood, Mary Katrantzou & Diane von Furstenberg, and were worn by critically acclaimed actresses Rosario Dawson, Angela Bassett and Madelaine Petsch. The ethical dresses are now available for purchase on MAISON-DE-MODE.COM, where a percentage of profits will be donated to the beneficiary of RCGD, MUSE School CA. MUSE School CA is an environmental non-profit educational organization Amis Cameron founded in Calabasas, Calif. with her sister Rebecca Amis.

Descriptions of each gown worn are found below:

  • Madelaine Petsch is wearing a custom Mary Katrantzou dress made with sustainable silk satin and embroidered with Swarovski upcycled crystals
  • Angela Bassett is wearing a custom Diane von Furstenberg iconic wrap dress made of upcycled fabric
  • Rosario Dawson is wearing a Vivienne Westwood Couture draped corset gown, in a deep emerald-green silk crepe marocain, layered with smoky black tulle petticoat. This special silk was carefully selected from Westwood’s fabric archives, in the name of reducing waste and reviving unused fabrics in stunning couture style.
  • Amanda Hearst wearing a Gabriela Hearst gown made with upcycled Swarovski crystals
  • Maye Musk is wearing an EDUN look, which exemplifies their Made in Africa message and ethical production standards.

Red Carpet Green Dress is an internationally recognized organization that combines the worlds of fashion and sustainability. Currently, in its ninth year, the campaign was conceived by Suzy Amis Cameron during the press tour for her husband, James Cameron’s film “Avatar”. Her hope is to draw attention to the importance of more sustainable practices in fashion by challenging designers from around the world to think about fashion in an eco-friendly context. The campaign also raises funds for MUSE School CA, a non-profit educational organization that Amis Cameron co-founded in Calabasas, California.

ESSENCE #BlackWomenInHollywood Luncheon – Mustang Empowerment Corner

The ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood luncheon sponsored by Ford was a star-studded and empowerment filled event full of love and tears of joy as ESSENCE honored some boss women at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Sisterhood was on full display as some of the industry’s top leading ladies came together to celebrate the honorees including “Black Panther” star Danai Gurira, actress Tessa Thompson of “Dear White People”, “Girl’s Trip” actress, author, and comedian Tiffany Haddish, and actress, producer, and screenwriter Lena Waithe, who received the Ford Vanguard of Feminism Award.

The Ford Mustang Empowerment Corner was nothing short of motivating as fashion muva (mother) June Ambrose interviewed the stars in front of the all-new 2018 Mustang, which is the most personalized ever and offers more customization than ever before as fans can create and share Mustang art through the “Personalize Your Pony” experience on Facebook. The experience allows fans to create personalized pony art right on their Facebook pages, then use their custom designs to order prints, clothing, mugs, phone cases and even a limited-edition grille badge for their late-model Mustangs.

During Tiffany Haddish’s acceptance speech, the new author told a story about being homeless and living in her car before she hit it big and joked “I heard if you mention a car company they’ll give you a car. So, Ford, maybe I can get me a nice Ford car!” which sent the room up in laughs.

The event was nothing short of brilliant and the perfect way to celebrate the sisterhood of boss women.

The Mane Choice Multicultural Hair and Body Brand: Founder Courtney Adeleye

In the last five years, there has been a 30% upswing in the number of minority- and female-owned brands presenting lines to retailers. Power players from Walmart to Sephora are taking notice and clearing shelf space for the upstart companies. One of the trailblazers in this growing category is the multicultural hair & body care brand, The Mane Choice – who has secured exclusive launch deals with both Walmart and Target in the last year alone! The five-year-old brand that grew from a home-based hobby to a multimillion dollar corporation in just 2 years is growing at a blistering pace.

About the brand and founder:

  • The business was created by founder Courtney Adeleye, who began her journey by mixing products in her kitchen and documenting her progress on YouTube. As her viewers watched her hair grow from chin length all the way down to her hip, they yearned for her help with their own tresses.
  • Courtney began the business out of her kitchen and grew The Mane Choice from a home-based hobby to a multimillion-dollar business in just two years. Last year, the brand garnered over 6.5 million in sales.
  • In less than three years The Mane Choice has been picked up by major retailers including Sally Beauty Supply, Rite Aid, Target, Walgreens, and CVS.
  • In 2017 Courtney debuted two exclusive product launches with Walmart and Target.
  • The Mane Choice has grown almost exclusively through word of mouth and social media. The brand has organically garnered 347K + Instagram followers and 362K + Facebook fans.
  • The Mane Choice made history in Target, being the first hair vitamin to be featured in the hair aisle (they’re usually reserved for the vitamin aisle).
  • The brand has already expanded abroad, with specific The Mane Choice e-commerce sites for Africa and Canada.

Belli Beauty Fresh Start Pre-Treatment Scrub: Beauty Product Review

Let’s start by saying I am a mom.  Like most women who have given birth, I have suffered from skin changes.  This ranges from dryness to a few unforeseen stretch marks.  Thank goodness we live in a new day and time that celebrates all facets of being a woman!

Belli Beauty is a company that specializes in providing luxurious skincare solutions for all ages.  The company creates a variety of products to help with tired eyes, tightening pores, and sunscreen.  I received the Fresh Start Pre-Treatment Scrub to share and provide a review.

If you’re an avid reader of this site (and viewer of lifestyle segments) you know that I adore multi-tasking products because they save time.  The Belli Beauty Fresh Start Pre-Treatment Scrub can be used on the face and body to prevent anti-aging.

Hello.  I am here for all of this!  I used the product during my shower and applied lotion immediately afterward.  My skin appeared brighter and more nourished.  I suggest this product to new moms or anyone that’s seeking healthy skin.
