Update Your Spring 2021 Wardrobe with These Essentials

It’s not that much longer now – spring is upon us and with that comes a rise in temperatures and the inevitable change of the wardrobe. Those heavy layers are no longer needed, and you may be looking for ways to integrate some lovely spring colours into your look. So, before you hit the shops and pick up some new items, here’s a look at what will be hot and trending in terms of a spring 2021 wardrobe.

Embrace Spring Dresses

One of the hottest trends for spring 2021 is spring dresses in all styles, colours, prints, and lengths. What this means is that you have a lot of freedom to choose the ones that speak to you. Dresses with full skirts are particularly hot for spring so you can keep your eyes open for that style.

If it’s still a bit chilly to break out your new spring dress, try layering a cardigan or blazer on top and wear a pair of tall boots rather than more traditional warm weather shoes like sandals.

Time to Get Rid of the Skinny Jeans

If you’ve been sporting skinny jeans for the past few years, it’s time to embrace the latest denim trend which is loose denim. Look for wide legged denim that has more of a vintage and lived-in quality to it.

Beach Wear Vibes – Bring Elements of the Look into Your Wardrobe

Picture yourself sunbathing on the beach, relaxing, and enjoying the summer heat. Now it’s time to take those vibes and that beachwear style and integrate it into your spring wardrobe. This can be done with nautical prints, beach-type images and patterns, soft natural colours you’d find on the beach, and of course, casual style clothing.

Pink Is the Colour of Spring

Traditionally, there are colours that emerge for each season that prove to be trendy and, right now, pink is shaping up to be that colour for spring 2021. All shades of pink will be trending, including bright fuchsia pink that can really add a bright and youthful pop to your complexion.

It’s All About the Proper Fit

As you shop for your new spring wardrobe, the key to looking great is finding the right fit. The right fit ensures that you look put together, the garment hangs and fits as it should, and that you feel confident and comfortable. Designers are now catering to a much broader range of body sizes and shapes, which means finding your proper size has never been easier. If you’re looking for a selection of plus sized items, check out froxx.

If you prefer shopping online rather than in-person, make sure you take your body measurements to use with the website’s sizing guide. The majority of online retailers will have a sizing guide posted.

All of these wardrobe essentials will make it possible for you to step into spring with style and confidence. And what’s great is that so many of these pieces can be mixed and matched with your existing wardrobe.

COVERGIRL’s Shade for Shade: Be Unapologetic in Your Beauty Choices

Today, COVERGIRL launched a new campaign that inspires women to be unapologetic about their beauty choices through a quick swipe of lipstick. Starring and co-created by COVERGIRL Issa Rae, the film, titled “Shade for Shade,” features Issa and her (real life!!) best friends navigating LA for a night out, each swiping on a different shade of lipstick and owning the colors they chose. Once the shades of Exhibitionist lipstick come out, shade gets playfully thrown back and forth between the friends, illustrating what it looks like for women to be assured in their beauty choices.

Lipstick isn’t about the color, it’s a statement of unapologetic self-expression, which is exactly what COVERGIRL embodies within the campaign and their tagline “I Am What I Make Up.”

The film serves as an invitation for all women to confidently own their shade choices without explanation – even if your friends disagree or people stare. COVERGIRL says, let them stare! There are no rules when it comes to makeup, and “Shade for Shade” serves to celebrate all of the bold (or subtle) lipstick choices that make you feel like your best you.

COVERGIRL Launch: The Infinite – A Tribute to COVERGIRL’s Product Inspiration

This morning COVERGIRL launched their biggest campaign of the year – The Infinite – which showcases COVERGIRL’s inspiration behind this product: YOU.

This campaign is a tribute to everyone who spoke up and said what they want and need from a foundation – not just an extensive shade range (but of course we have that!), but specific formula additions that cater to their unique skin needs. COVERGIRL listened, and COVERGIRL heard you, so this foundation was created specifically for each and every one of you.

COVERGIRL’s TruBlend Matte Made Foundation’s 40 shade-range delivers a long-wearing matte finish while delivering the key factors most asked for by consumers:

  • Flexible wear and comfort feel – a flexi-hold technology creates a strong, yet flexible film that’s comfortable on the skin. It responds to facial movements and is lightweight on the skin.
  • Transfer-Proof – Flexible film helps formula stay in place all day – will not transfer
  • Pore-Blurring – Light-scattering technology blurs pores and minimizes imperfections on skin
  • Oil-Absorption – Oil-absorbing powders can hold 2X their weight in oils

Be The Best Version of You: Embrace Your Natural Beauty

It’s not easy being a woman. We’re bombarded with photoshopped images of beautiful models, we have strict beauty standards forced upon us and most of us receive criticism throughout our lives for one feature or another on our face or body. But it doesn’t have to be this way, instead of comparing ourselves to others it makes sense that we should embrace our own natural beauty. Accentuate our best features, look and feel our best in a way that’s true to us. Here are just a few of the ways you can go about doing that.

Choose a Hairstyle and Color That Works For You

By the time most of us reach our twenties, we’ve dyed our hair every color under the sun. You might have spent some time bleach blonde, jet black, bright red or any other weird and wonderful shade of the rainbow. But to embrace your natural beauty, why not go back to your roots? If you have natural auburn hair, why not make the most of this stunning rare color and show it off! If you’re beachy blonde, ditch the dark dyes and if you’re naturally darker than give up the bleaches. If you have grey hair, don’t feel as though you need to change it- the silver color can look beautiful. Toners can help to keep it the best shade of grey it can be without permanent damaging colors being added. Sticking with your natural shade will save you time and money, you won’t have to keep running to the hairdresser or using box dyes to cover your roots. Your hair will be in good condition where you won’t be constantly dying it, and when it comes down to it- your natural hair color is what will suit you best. It will complement both your eyes and skin tone and will make you feel like ‘you’- especially if you’ve been coloring for a while.

Stick To a Good Skincare Routine

These days there are all kinds of ‘lunch hour procedures’ that can keep you young from lip injections to fillers to Botox. They’re not too expensive and the recovery time is minimal, however, prevention is better than cure. If you treat your skin well you will reduce the signs of aging and naturally stay looking younger for longer. You should use SPF every day, even in winter as the sun’s UV rays are damaging all year round. Eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of water and avoid damaging habits such as smoking, excessively drinking or taking drugs. Look after your body as a whole, and your skin is one place you will really reap the rewards. If you do feel as though you want a procedure or a little nip/ tuck to rewind the years however then go for it. When it comes to surgery, have the aim in mind that you should look like the best version of yourself, not someone completely different!

Work on Your Physique

A strong and supple body is, of course, practical- it allows you to live your life without feeling easily fatigued and you feel fit and healthy. But maintaining a healthy weight and having toned muscles also looks good too, and can give you a huge confidence boost. If you’re overweight, shedding some pounds will be useful for both your health and your self-esteem. You could join a dieting group for support, and join a gym along with a friend or partner for motivation. Alternatively, you could find an activity you enjoy, whether it’s swimming, yoga, a dance class, a sport or just hiking with the dog and family. Aim to get to a BMI that’s healthy for you (there are lots of calculators to show you this online) and you will look how you are supposed to look and feel great too. You’ll slash your risk of all kinds of health issues that can come from weighing too much or too little. Healthy eating and exercise don’t have to be a chore, there are tones of delicious dishes out there and lots of fun activities to get you up and moving. Don’t see it as a diet, instead see it as a lifestyle change in pursuit of becoming your best self.

You don’t have to conform to unrealistic beauty standards, instead just work on making the best of yourself and highlighting your natural beauty. When you feel good on the outside it does affect the way you feel on the inside- plus many things that improve the way you look will also improve your health.
