With that in mind, what can you do to make the cheapest styles look like the height of fashion?

The right start to your day

You wake up looking bloated, tired, haggard and a bit like 20-tonne granite sandbags have been placed under your eyes. It’s not a start to your day that screams style, is it?

But that grim feeling doesn’t have to last long if you’ve got the right level of cleanliness at your disposal. So climb out from under your blankets and follow these tips to feel classy come morning.

To start with, throw those expensive beauty products in the bin. They’re brimming with chemicals that could strip the skin or scalp of its many nutrients.

Instead, invest in sodium free shampoo and a chemically neutral body wash. The lack of additives rubbing into your skin will make it look better with every new day you wake up. Top this effect off with a pint of water every morning. It’ll take the edge off your morning coffee and give your skin an extra boost.

You’ve probably seen fashion victims wearing colors more garish than a neon Dulux wall chart with sick on it. Pity those poor souls who can’t coordinate colours – just make sure that pity isn’t reciprocated.

Matching the right colors is the key to making even the cheapest outfits look like they were cut by Ralph Lauren himself. Loud primary colors must be offset by a cheeky pattern or quiet colour to tone the outfit down.

Think of mixing the right colors as like walking a dog – sometimes you have to let your dog roam free, but other times that hound has to be held on its leash.

DIY

Trying to define genius in design is like trying to hold an abstract concept in your hands. But at least one factor is easy to put your finger on – personality.

Provided, personality shouldn’t be a difficult thing to find. The craft is the tricky part.

So pick up a few high street items of clothing and see what alterations you can make to give it your unique touch.

Pandora Jewelry – Sentimental Style and Accessories

I’m a sentimental girl that likes to show my unique style through clothing and accessories. For me, jewelry is an extension of fashion; allowing me to be trendy or classic.  Pandora bracelets, necklaces, rings, and charms are no exception to this rule.

I am a huge fan of their jewelry because it allows every woman to pay tribute to special moments in their life. According to the company, one can start their Pandora collection by selecting a bracelet, purchase charms that are personal to you, add clips to keep the charms in place, and use a safety chain.

I received my first Pandora bracelet as a Valentine’s Day gift from my husband. The bracelet was a Lobster Clasp with Swarovski Crystals and Pave Charms. It was unique to me because my favorite color is pink. Luckily, my second bracelet was a Barrel Clasp with Murano Glass Charms. I paired each bracelet with a Michael Kors Watch, Tracy Reese Bracelet, and Tag Heart Bracelet from Tiffany & Co.

From a fashion stand point, there are several ways that one can style their Pandora jewelery. Many women like to wear pieces everyday (from the office to soccer practice) and some for special occasions only.

The bracelets and rings can be stacked (worn together) or a single bracelet on each wrist. I also discovered that you can switch out the charms on each bracelet for a different look. For example, my first bracelet came with ten charms; I removed four of the charms and added them to my barrel clasp bracelet.

My Review:

I have been a fan of Teen Vogue for several years.  The magazine provides the latest in fashion, celebrity style, and entertainment.  The Teen Vogue Handbook is the perfect extension of the brand because it gives an insiders guide to careers in fashion.  I suggest this book for up and coming fashion professionals as well as those working in the industry.

Teen Vogue Handbook

The handbook is divided into content chapters according to careers such as Designers, Editors, Digital, Stylist, Models, Beauty, and Photographers.  Of course I turned to the Digital chapter first, which features media moguls such as Leandra Medine, Natalie Massenet, Michelle Phan, Sophia Amoruso, and Robin Givhan to name a few.

In addition, The Teen Vogue Handbook shares how to start a career in fashion and the daily responsiblities associated with each job.  For example, designer Jenna Lyons shares “one day is never the same as the next; there are so many pieces and parts.  Most of the time, I go from one meeting to the next and don’t really get a break in between ” (Astley, 41.)

The handbook ends with the Career chapter giving tips on how to apply for internships, create a resume, social networking, and dressing to impress.  The Teen Vogue Handbook is a must read for the fashion intern or brand account manager.  Fashion is constantly changing and one must stay abreast of the latest trends (beyond accessories and style.)  Anna Wintour stated, “people have to go to school, learn their craft, and build a brand – that’s the right, healthy way to do things.  If you’re an overnight sensation, you can be yesterday’s news in no time, whereas building something slowly and carefully that has value and quality, that’s what’s going to have legs” (Astley, 114.)
