The Look: Sultry, youthful and voluminous

The Inspiration: Celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel was inspired by the construction and details of the Calvin Klein dress. “I wanted to give her an undone, textured blowout with a brushed out beautiful wave hand raked back away from the face,” he says.

How to Get the Look:

  • He started by applying John Frieda® Luxurious Volume Perfectly Full™ Mousse all over the roots on towel dried hair. He then air-dried the hair with 100% cold air to achieve maximum volume.
  • Then using a medium sized round brush, he dried the hair applying hot air to form the style.
  • Then he divided the hair in two-inch sections and wrapped each section into a Velcro roller allowing it cool and set. He did this throughout the entire head.
  • Before removing the rollers, he sprayed John Frieda® Luxurious Volume Forever Full™ Hairspray to set the look. He then removed the rollers, applying more spray to a Mason Pearson brush and brushed the hair into soft textured sexy waves.
  • He then backcombed the front pieces of hair to create height for a sexy sultry side swept effect.
  • To finish, he misted John Frieda Luxurious Volume Forever Full™ Hairspray to lock in the style for the night.

I was invited (as a media outlet) to visit Westfield, Annapolis Mall and re-create one of the installation looks.  This was exciting because the campaign included a few of my favorite retailers.

My individual style would be described as poised and polished.  I like tailored lines with a hint of femininity through ruffles, patterns, and fabric textures.  My style icons vary (depending on the mood) but are primarily Michelle Obama, Eva Longoria, with a hint of Kourtney Kardashian.

I started my shopping journey (for the campaign) at Nordstrom where I found a beautiful array of formal gowns.  The store did not disappoint fashionable customers by providing lace, sequins, and floral dresses.  In support of the campaign, I also discovered a Vince Camuto visual display showcasing a monochromatic shift dress, slacks, and tote bag.

After leaving Nordstrom, I walked over to Lord and Taylor.  If you’re searching for a Little Black Dress, they have it here!  The campaign celebrated Satires Ronan’s fashion style and her LBD through the installation display.

I concluded my shopping adventure by visiting Macys women’s department.  From there, I was able to create a look that suits my personal style.

I purchased a Thalia Sodi Solid Scuba Blazer and Pencil Skirt.  This set looked amazing due to the jacket’s stand collar, open front, and leopard-print lining.  The skirt enhanced my body type along with subtle cut-outs at the hem-line.  I can’t wait to share my style photo on the site!

Michael Kors Dress | Escada Coat | SJP Collection Shoes

Lupita Nyongo wore this look as a guest on The Today Show.  The actress was seen wearing (tone-on-tone) various shades of purple and pink.

I love the flirtatious design of this dress with a plunging neckline, fishtail bottom, and cut-out just above the waist.  Lupita’s hair was also in a pompadour…very stylish!

1. Start with clean towel dried hair. First apply KMS California TAMEFRIZZ smoothing lotion (18.99) from root to tip and comb through for even distribution.

2. Next, spray KMS California ADDVOLUME volumizing spray (18.99) at the roots to create big voluminous hair.

3. Give a light mist of KMS California FREESHAPE quick blow dry spray (21.99) to reduce drying time and get a smooth fly-away free result to your blow dry.

4. Next, section the hair for blow drying. Using a medium round brush, drying with an up and around movement to get full volume.

5. Using a 1-inch curling iron, take 1-inch sections of hair and curl the hair all back and away from the face. Take a velcro roller and set each curl after you curl only using medium to small curlers. Allow rollers to set and cool. After, 15-20 minutes remove curlers.

6. To finish, brush the hair out with a sable bristle brush. Use KMS California HAIRPLAY playable texture ($20.50) to spray waves and curls in place but still maintain a soft bouncy look.
