In addition to showcasing Brandon Descai’s newest fashion collection titled, “Love Bloom…An Evolution of Love” we also had the opportunity to interview the designer.
With such a fabulous collection and based here in Baltimore, this was an interview worth the wait!
What does fashion and design mean to you?
Fashion means what’s popular or trending. The design aspect is what makes it unique to you preference or style.
When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion designer?
I realized I wanted to be a fashion designer around age 19, after not being able to find affordable an d suitable clothes at the mall.
What was the first article of clothing you ever designed?
It was a Saturday morning, and I planned to go to the club later that night. I realized I had nothing to wear, so I decided to head to the local Walmart and pick out fabric and a pattern to make a shirt. I decided upon a crinkle cotton for he shirt and picked a “1hour” pattern that took me 8 hours to complete.
How long does it usually take you to construct a piece?
The shortest timeframe is about 3 hours and lengthiest is 96 hours.
Describe the general process you go through to design and realize a piece of clothing.
When I design I think about if it for male or female, purpose and functionality, where they are going, and how would the clothes make them feel.
What are some of your accomplishments as a designer?
So far I have shown at NYFW to rave reviews, I’ve dressed Ty Hunter, Lil Mo, Paula Campbell, Rye rye, Dru Hill, and Jessica Greene.
Who are some of your favorite clothing designers?
Dolce & Gabbana, Dsquared2, Michael Kors, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs are my favorites.
What’s in the future for B. Descai?
I am looking for new boutiques local and on the north east coast. One of my short term goals is to open my own boutique within the next 2 years.

B. DESCAI is a fashion line that’s known for it’s blend of vogue and fairytale articulation. The designer (Brandon Descai) featured his newest collection titled, “Love Bloom…an Evolution of Love” on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at EMP Collective located in Baltimore, Maryland.
According to the designer the show, “takes audiences on a love ride with garments inspired from the fast paced, surprising yest whisimical effect that love offers.”
Personally, I am “over the moon” with the designs and styling for this show. It is the perfect combination between art, drama, and couture. Some of the accessories used for the show are playful head pieces and “mod” tights.
In my opinion, the B. DESCAI show is very reminiscint of vintage Betsey Johnson from the nineties. With such a beautiful collection, there’s no question that this show was a success!
