Ann Taylor Spring 2014 Collection: Wardrobe Remix

When it comes to fashion, this spring will be all about cool neutrals and trendy basics. Debuting Ann Taylor’s new Spring 2014 Collection, featuring the ultimate A-list pieces for the modern closet.

Perfectly combining the spring classics that every woman needs from the perfect shirt to slim pants to a classic trench, the spring collection plays on runway trends by adding sheer fabrics, piped lines and stripes in slate grays, creams, navy and black tones. “I like to mix different prints or textures within a color family so you can create this high-low look within your outfit. I think this love affair that we’re having with blush instantly modernizes and feminizes old classics like black and navy,” Creative Director Lisa Axelson says of the new Spring Collection.

Below are a few images from the new spring collection, which will be in stores through April. Please let me know if you are working on any Spring fashion trend stories. I’d be glad to provide Ann Taylor’s full Spring look book for consideration for any fashion roundup, trend stories or cover shoots. Valentine’s Day 2014: For Men Looking Dapper

Pharrelll Williams

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away. Women have plenty of options to dress up for the occasion but men can find it challenging to choose the right outfit and style for the day of Cupid's arrow.

And it’s quite important to dress right because if you end up being a fashion disaster, it will become difficult to woo her and you can become a victim of low self-esteem. That’s the last thing you would want to happen on V-Day.

The following clothing tips will make sure that you appear dapper and full of confidence:

1. Outerwear

The cold isn’t going away anytime soon, so you will need a sweater. Go with the one that is thin in texture, yet warm at the same time. Mock neck is a classic that will look flattering on you and boost your appearance, regardless of whether you complement it with a pair of jeans or formal dress pants.

The other option is the classic V-neck sweater that will make you appear relaxed and fashionable at the same time. You can wear it over a polo and dress pants or over a pair of jeans and t-shirt. As for the colors, choose darker hues such as blue, purple and brown.

2. Accessories

You want to avoid too many accessories on this day. Possible options include wrist watches and mens canvas belts, which has a nice cotton canvas webbing. Both of these additions can redefine your style and highlight your formal or casual outfit.

If you are going to be dining at a restaurant, make sure you go with a fashionable wallet. Perhaps you can go with one made out of smooth or textured fur with contrasting prints inside, as it falls in the latest wallet trends for 2014.

3. Shoes

Avoid wearing square-toe shoes because they are out of fashion and select pointed shoes (black lace-ups work well) as they are trendy and work with both casual and formal outfits. But if you want to go with leather, select a couture, slim kind or lace-ups that feature a chunky sole. Both of them will complement trim-cut pants as well as a pair of skinny jeans.

You can also select loafers as they are a versatile option and have been going strong for the last few seasons. The latest designs include tassels and other elegant essentials and some of them include treaded soles in thick material.

4. Pants

Denim was said to appear in the 15th Century in the closing days of the Medieval Age, which falls in line with the origination of Valentine’s Day. So feel free to go with a faded vintage style or a classic straight cut if you are going to wear color-pop lace-up shoes.

You can even go with printed pants below formal upper attire and in case you do, keep it minimal and don’t compromise on the tailoring – you don’t want to appear as if you’re wearing PJs.

5. Hair

Last but not the least, take care of your hairstyle: a neat look is the most preferable but you can also try on wavy and side styles depending on your outfit. Remember that a dapper hairdo can be a turn-on for your date.

Jake Gyllenhaal

And if you have a hard time in deciding the style that would go with your outfit, feel free to book an appointment at a salon. This can turn out to be a good option as your hair might need some trimming to adapt to a certain style.

Buying Jewelry Online: Getting the Best Glam for Your Buck

The two year anniversary came up recently between my girlfriend and I so I wanted to give her something special. Until now, I would have bought her the usual assortment of gifts, like flowers and other do-dads that I noticed she had posted on Facebook or slyly mentioned in a conversation.

This time, I decided to buy her a ring online

I’ve bought many things online before but jewelry was one of those items I just never really got around to since there are a lot of little factors I would need to know. I didn’t want to ask her outright her ring size or her favorite stones, otherwise I would have ruined the surprise.

I did eventually find–what I would like to think is–an excellent ring. When I gave it to her, she swooned and the gift was a complete success.

But I’m not here to tell you about my little story but rather to offer a few suggestions if you’re about to do the same as I had done (without ruining the surprise and keeping it within a reasonable budget).

My Suggestions when Buying Jewelry Online

Whether you’re buying it as a gift or just picking it up on your own – shopping for jewelry online is a little different than, say, buying a toy on Amazon. In many ways, it’s a lot like shopping for clothes, in the sense that you need some base information to make sure you’re getting exactly what you expect.

Here’s how I’d recommend going about doing that:

Get the basics

The basics will boil down to taste, event, and physical dimensions.

For example:

• Sizing

• Type of stone(s)

• Colors

• Type of metals

• Occasion

When you’re shopping for yourself, you’re going to know what you like so this one’s a gimme: those wanting to purchase jewelry as a gift might need to fly under the radar and go through their friends to get this information without tipping them off as to your intentions.

What you could do is to ask their friends sly questions about their tastes and preferences and relay that information back to you. You may also want to get a few ideas from sites like Pinterest based on the occasion (such as an engagement, Valentine’s Day, or anniversary).

Do Your Homework

The great thing about buying online is that you don’t get that pressure that you would if you stepped into a jewelry store or other retail location. Someone isn’t coming over to pitch you.

You also get the benefit of doing comparison shopping from home so you’re not running all around town going to different stores, wasting gas, and generally knowing you’re not going to get a price on match with what’s online.

Let’s say you go to www.frontjewelers.net to get started. Once you’re there you can begin shopping around and looking at the available options. At this time, I’d recommend looking at the warranty information to make sure you’re covered in case it doesn’t fit or a gem pops out. Reading the testimonials and reviews will also give you good ideas on where to start.

Having this ability to do it all online will get you the best bang for your buck especially when you don’t feel like you need to make a quick decision since a salesperson is hyping the purchase (because they know they’ll get a commission).

Easy as 1, 2, … 3?

To be honest, there isn’t really a need for a third step because if you’ve got the information needed for what type of jewelry to get, along with taking the time to shop around for the best deals (and customer service) you’re more than good to go.

Buying jewelry online may not be something you’ve done before, but I’m sure with my tips (and story) you should have everything you need to get the best glam for your buck.
