Prabal Gurung GTL from Hot Tools + Wella

INSPIRATION:

The evolution of the Prabal woman continues this season, evoking a strong and confident femininity that is juxtaposed by clean lines.

LOOK:

A modern take on the classic ponytail with textured tousled hair in the back that is complimented by a boyish look in front with clean combed over hair to create a play on the sexes.

GET THE LOOK:

·         Prep the hair with WELLA EIMI Sugar Lift Sugar Spray layering it densely all over, and dry using the Hot Tools Tourmaline Turbo Ionic Dryer.

·         Once it’s all dried in use the Hot Tools Soft Grip Paddle Cushion Brush to smooth it out and create a very deep side part on the left.

·         Rub the WELLA EIMI Rugged Texture Matte Texturizing Paste into the crown to give it that sleek look.

·         Push the front, right section of the hair towards the face, creating a small bump in the front. Break up the hair with fingers for that “lived-in” texture.

·         Pull the hair back into a tight ponytail in the dead center of the back of the head.

·         Wrap strands around the Hot Tools 1” CURLBAR (available later this month) in different directions, making it look very natural. Rub in the WELLA EIMI Sugar Lift Sugar Spray into the ponytail and break it up.

·         Spray the WELLA EIMI Stay Firm Workable Finishing Hairspray all over to complete the sleek look. Let it sit. To finish, blow dry to keep ensure it holds.

BADGLEY MISCHKA PRESENTS FALL 2017 COLLECTION AT NYFW

Badgley Mischka, one of the world’s leading special occasion fashion designers, is pleased to announce the launch of their first-ever Badgley Mischka Home collection. The duo launched the collection on February 14th at their Fall/Winter 2017 fashion show during NYFW. Following the success of the brands’ “see now, buy now” collection platform last year, the Badgley Mischka Home collection will be available on BadgleyMischka.com immediately after the February 14th show.

Every piece from the Badgley Mischka Home collection embodies the intricate detailing that epitomized the Badgley Mischka ready-to-wear pieces. The collection is inspired by Mark and James’ passion for building homes and creating enduring designs for cherished life moments.

The Badgley Mischka Home collection features an array of dining, living, and bedroom collections in addition to accent furniture, case goods, upholstered items, decorative accessories, and candles, ranging from $100 to $10,000. Inspired by Mark and James’ passion for building homes and creating enduring designs for cherished life moments, each piece in the collection embodies the intricate detailing and old Hollywood glamour for which Badgley Mischka is known.

“We are thrilled to see this collection come to life,” Mark Badgley said. “It has been a wonderful labor of love to combine our passions for interior design and fashion design. Each piece we’ve created for Badgley Mischka Home really is an extension of our aesthetic and what we love – both on the runway and in our own home,” he continued. “To be able to design pieces that we hope will create amazing environments and moments at home for our customers is a thrill and something we’ve always wanted to do,” added James Mischka.

The Badgley Mischka Home collection is produced in partnership with Los Angeles-based PTM Images to hospitality-grade specifications using the finest materials available.  Linens and woven fabrics are primarily sourced in the US and additional raw materials are found abroad.  As part of the brand’s commitment to sustainable design and production, the design house has tasked suppliers to plant over 40 trees for every one cut for production use. Additionally, their production facility recycles all waste materials using a “closed loop” recycling process in which post-consumer waste is collected, recycled and used in the manufacturing of the collection.

NYFW RECAP: Katie Gallagher FW17 “Hallow”

Even now this landscape is assembling.

The hills darken. The oxen

sleep in their blue yoke,

the fields having been

picked clean, the sheaves

bound evenly and piled at the roadside

among cinquefoil, as the toothed moon rises:

This is the barrenness

of harvest or pestilence.

And the wife leaning out the window

with her hand extended, as in payment,

and the seeds

distinct, gold, callin

Come here

Come here, little one

And the soul creeps out of the tree.

Louise Glück, “All Hallows,” 1968

Set in New England during autumn, Katie Gallagher’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection, Hallow, finds inspiration in men’s military apparel, specifically the MA-1 bomber jacket. Developed in the 1940s, the bomber jacket provided warmth and safety to pilots during air combat in WWII.

In the decades following, the garment became one of the most identifiable pieces of military apparel, finding its way into popular culture by the end of the 20th century. Gallagher has featured iterations of the bomber jacket in many of her past collections, using tulle, lace, and other unlikely materials to create the traditionally heavy, masculine garment.

Like early bomber jackets that were lined in orange, Gallagher’s color palette will feature black and orange hues, which also recall the colors of autumn and death most commonly associated with All Hallow’s Eve.

Hallow relies heavily on textures and subtle details, featuring point d’esprit and tulle that form non-traditional, dainty, and triangular silhouettes. Materials include airy swiss dot paired with heavy opaque wool, silk, English tulle, Mountain Goat, lambskin, and pony fur leathers. Gallagher’s signature twisted seams finish turtleneck sleeves and leggings.

Hallow is Gallagher’s 16th collection. Gallagher’s past collections have been celebrated by Vogue, The Cut, Nylon, Glamour, Refinery 29, W Magazine and Teen Vogue, among others, for her attention to detail, superior craftsmanship, and creativity. She pulls inspiration from her childhood, music, art, and her life in New York City. More information is available at katiegallagher.com.

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week – PATUNA Collection

While visiting Versailles, Patuna had the initial idea to design each creation in one piece of the famous castle; the colors found their origin from there. The choice of single threads, hooked by Patuna herself was like an invisible link symbolizing the distance between Paris and Tbilisi.

A woman of power, then, and a woman in motion, extracting herself from her condition by acceding to the world.

When the collection of silk and velvet satin appeared as a whole, it seemed evident to her that the serpent she had woven on each creation was that knowledge to which Eve had acceded…
