Get the Look: Romantic Spring 2017 Fashion

Romance is a word that has existed for some time now. It blossomed during the period of Romanticism, where literature, art, music and philosophies were produced under the header of this notion of love. There are the Romance languages, incorporating Latin, French, Italian and even Romanian, so we can understand that it’s been a bit of big deal for quite a while; how can we incorporate it into our everyday style?

There are some things that just don’t go out of style when it comes to romantic fashion, and timeless jewelry is one of them. If you buy pearl jewelry for example, you will be investing in something that will last for years, but also has a huge romantic history behind it; there are various poems which link up pearls and love, as pearls are meant to increase not only the love that you receive from others (it’s said that they are able to open up your heart to take in more), but the amount of self-love and praise that you can give to yourself. At a time where we are so critical of our body image, it’s important to be able to love yourself as much as you can – and if this involves splashing out on some new pearl earrings, a pearl necklace or a new ring, this is a great excuse.

Clothing

Fashion from the Romantic era is definitely coming back into trend, with the incorporation of lace onto outfits being the one thing that stands out from this Victorian style. If you want to take it into the modern day, hearts are the symbol of love that never fades away. Choose something cute and dainty that has a heart pattern on it – it doesn’t have to be overwhelming or too bold if that’s not what you want. There are certain color that emphasizes love and romance, and these are usually chosen for weddings i.e. the bridesmaids’ dresses and flower arrangements. That doesn’t mean that they can’t be worn outside of a wedding, as we would be extremely limited on what we would be able to wear! Pastels are a great choice.

Hair

Philosophers from the Romantic era emphasized the importance of emotional self-awareness, creativity and the freedom of expression in order to better us. They didn’t talk much about hair, but if they did it would probably share your hair needs to be free too, just like your thoughts and feelings. So unleash the bun, get out the detangler and let loose; your hair needs to be flowing as freely as it can. There are certain styles that you can mix and match up with, as plaits and braids can definitely add a certain je ne sais quois to long and letdown hair. Show your creativity and romantic side through the addition of these, and you are good to go – spread the love!

Dressing On-Trend for Carnival Season

Mardi Gras is a southern, carnival tradition.  I have enjoyed participating in the festival since childhood.  This year, I was invited to attend one of the balls. Guests were asked to dress in non-traditional attire, wearing sequin tops and denim jeans.

Immediately, I started searching for the perfect sequin blouse.  I was able to find what I needed at the local thrift shop.

The top (below) had all of the colors that represent the event and matched perfectly with my bottom.

I have secretly been waiting for the right time to wear my clear ankle booties. This shoe was on-trend and wore nicely for an evening of dancing.

Winter Fashion Survival: Wearing Bright Hues and Tones

To survive the remainder of winter, incorporate a bright hue into your fashion wardrobe. There’s something about the fluctuating weather and brisk air that makes us resort to earth tones. Although I adore wearing a taupe sweater, I opted for the Alex Malay Satin Pink Blazer instead of the traditional pieces.

Normally, I would style this blazer with a button-down, denim jeans, and quilted flats.  I wanted to elevate the look and represent the upcoming warmer season.

The cranberry toned accessories evolved from owning a velvet hat, pointed toe boots, and bodysuit. White jeans are considered a faux pas but can brighten a look and accent the colors in your top or accessories.

Prom is just around the corner and all that this means is that teenagers have to find just the right dress for that special night. Every high school holds its own prom night each year and this night is very special for all teenagers. Because this night is so important, everyone wants to look their sharpest during the party and this is where the search for finding the right prom dress starts.

As everybody knows by now, girls are the ones who are more interested in look good for prom night and not boys. Boys usually tend to just buy or rent a suit and tie. While looking for a prom dress might sound like a fun time, this isn’t always the case. Especially since every teenager wants their dress to be special.

Surprisingly, even though the demand is very big there aren’t that many retailers which provide customers with plus size prom dresses. This is actually upsetting many people since this trend forces many teenagers to have and acquire their dresses from speciality shops.

Gladly, there are online retailers who offer a huge range of plus size prom dresses. This way, teenagers are not limited to only buying plus sized dresses from speciality shops or even to go through the hassle of tailoring their own dresses. While designing their own dresses brings many advantages such as having a truly unique dress which fits perfectly. The downside to this is that designing and creating your own dress is pretty expensive. The parents or the teenager have to acquire a special tailor which is experienced and is able to create complex dress designs, and tailors like this charge a lot of money.

According to a recent survey, high school teenagers are quite frustrated by the fact that they aren’t able to find plus sized dresses around their local area. Usually, all local shopping malls have their own prom dress specific shops but these shops aren’t known for having some of the most beautiful designs. Usually, plus sized dresses are designed not to hug the body and instead to tent it. This is rather annoying since these dresses look baggy and it’s simply not a good fit for anyone.

Nonetheless, because we know that prom is an important night for every teenager. We need to advise all teenagers that they shouldn’t get frustrated over the fact that they can’t find enough plus sized dresses and just try to have fun. In the end, that’s what really matters.
