The Contemporary Romper: Summer Fashion Statement

The contemporary romper is always up for debate.  Some say it’s the equivalent of a middle school outfit and others believe it’s a wardrobe staple.

Wearing a romper can be a great choice. It’s both casual and dressy; worn with sneakers, wedges, or diamond studs.

To look amazing in a romper, it has to fit appropriately.  Rompers should drape nicely (on the shoulders) and taper to the waist.  Also, the sleeves should not extend beyond the wrist or pant length extremely short.

Macy’s Backstage Outlet Store Grand Opening

Macy’s Backstage is a new outlet store located in select cities.  The department store is one of my favorite retailers because Macy’s has something for everyone.

Last weekend, the store hosted their Macy’s Backstage Grand Opening at The Riverchase Galleria.  The event included music, gift totes, and a selfie booth. Local shoppers came out to the event; eager to partake in the sales and discounts.

For shopping clarity, Macy’s will continue to function in it’s normal capacity.  What does that mean? Macy’s Backstage is actually located within the original department store. The outlet is it’s own individual area with reduced merchandise and checkout.

Ultimately, Macy’s Backstage is an opportunity for customers to get their favorite products at a reasonable price.

GLO GIRL cosmetics shipped a gorgeous palette of lipsticks.  The company believes in, “Lipstick with a fierce attitude.”  Personally, that’s enough for me to wear their products!  After testing and reviewing various shades, GLO GIRL lipsticks held its color and hydrated my lips.

There was no need to use lip-gloss after application.  The gold colored tube added a touch of glamour to the product.

  • Best advice ever received: The best piece of advice Yang Yang received was from her parents when she was young — they told her not to worry about money or how much she was making. If she worked hard, she would be rewarded in the end.

  • Creating her brand: When Yang Yang first started her eBay shop, she named it AMI Style to mean “American Made International Style.” At that time, it was a great keyword for American made and for international sales. A few years later, she wanted to create her own line of custom-designed clothes and shoes, yet wanted to stay true to the AMI roots. At that time, there weren’t many sexy clothing websites and her style didn’t match any trending keywords. So, she created her own term “clubwear” and shorten her brand to “AMI Clubwear.”  Now 10 years later, if you Google the term, AMI Clubwear is at No. 1 with over 21 million results of competitors now using it.

  • Naming her business: Yang Yang chose the name Dese Enterprise because in Beijing “dese” is street slang for amazing, beautiful or unique. Find something unique that resonates with your business and develop it into your own.

  • Best advice for aspiring entrepreneurs: “Go for it!” You’ll find a million reasons for not starting your own company, but you only need one reason to do it. What inspired Yang Yang was her desire to create a better life for the future family that she wanted one day. For everyone this reason is different, so find yours and go for it!
